The Sims™ 4

The Sims™ 4

My original sim just died and I wasn't ready for it :(
I never thought I would get emotional in a freaking video game, yet, here I am lol My original couple was perfect! The wife "Bella" was the most caring and I just watched as they would look after the kids, clean, and fall in love all over again. But there's always a twist. They had a mistress (which I didn't think was possible being married). The mistress ended up marrying the wife Bella and all three of them lived together. Eventually I decided to start a second house in the same world (big mistake). The new guy was at his house working out when the mistress from my first family jogged by. They are now married with a kid on the way and it's the perfect family. BUT... I was thinking how long it's been since I'd even seen Bella and my first family so I wanted to invite her over. As soon as I clicked on her tab I got a phone call... "I'm sorry to tell you that Bella has passed away"... I traveled over to to my original house and the kids and her husband (my first creation) were in shambles. It was so emotional I almost uninstalled the whole game. lol

You might be able to recover a previous save before your Sim died. When you save the game, it automatically keeps a copy of the save game you had before that. Each time you save, it deletes the previous save game copy and makes a copy of the one just before.

In your game, go to "Load Game". Next to the "Delete" button, you'll see an icon (it will only appear on your most recent game save) When you mouse over it, it will say, "Recover Save". As long as you didn't make any saves AFTER your Sim died, then the Recover Save will load the save game that you had made BEFORE the one you are presently seeing. Hope that made sense.

You can also try to resurrect Bella with Ambrosia if you can find her ghost.

Losing Bella Goth on The SIms 4 actually does not make me feel sad. Although she is iconic to The SIms 4, at the same time I still prefer comparing her to previous SIms games even if The SIms 4 is widely not considered as cannon. At least in some saves for example I might kill the original Bella Goth which makes her become a ghost because the Goths are supposed to think that she is dead/abducted by aliens, but make a clone of her who ends up getting married to someone other than Mortimer or perhaps I even make her as an alien where she is pretending to be Bella Goth with her disguise, but she is really not Bella Goth and does not necessarily stay married to Mortimer. Unless if you make the original Bella Goth die but perhaps make a clone of her, turn her into an alien from the MCCC mod, and/or make Bella divorce Mortimer the background story about the Goth family from The SIms 4 does not really make that much sense to me. Why would the Goth family be gloomy for example besides Cassandra Goth if Bella Goth according to The SIms 4 had never left them if playing along with the storyline where Bella stays with the Goth family and pretend as if she was never abducted in the first place or pretend as if something else tragic to Bella did not happen to them (such as Bella's death, her divorce from Mortimer, or an alien pretending to be Bella Goth) for example?

this is why i always save any new sims i make into the library because even with aging off you never know when your sims are gonna die

thankfully i have the mod mccc with sim flags to make sure my sims never die. if i want to make absolutely sure of sims surviving i'll turn them into vampires just for good measure. there are other alternatives to keeping your sims alive.

i believe there is a mod out there that can find those hidden traits some sims have, if you can put those immortal traits on a few of your sims, they'll never die.

No shame in this, OP. My sims are like my children from a simulated world, lol. Some needed to age and pass away for storytelling purposes and you'd find me in ruins most times. I do have backups of all of them saved but their time is done.

I also use MCCC immortal flags on sims I don't play but neither want to age and die (for example, the magical sages and pack werewolves). You can use them on any sim but at least one sim in your household must first meet them. Any sim can be summoned by using MCCC on the postbox.

The whole mod is a necessity for me. Do recommend it highly. :)

You guys are so much help and I really appreciate it! I now have this couple with immortal and anti-aging flags just to be safe. My original sim was Bella's husband and I haven't added flags to him. It is a bit sad because he'll randomly come over and just hang out and he's now an elder with his kids grown. He will soon be gone as well but I am prepared mentally this time. Hopefully.

The game has ghosts, you can have Mortimers future ghost reunite with Bellas

i Had mine randomly die from laughing next too his baby T_T

I had a male sim accidentally die from laughing who was supposed to get married to a clone of Bella Goth where both characters were supposed to be based on The SIms 2 instead of The SIms 4. It was not intentional and I did not cheat this with my MCCC mod for making my sim die from laughter, but I decided for story telling purposes to allow that sim to stay dead. Ironically, I do not see enough death taking place on The SIms 4 besides that of old age or from lilsimsie videos. Part of the reason why death is not common in my gameplays is because I have accidental deaths turned off usually from neighborhood stories.

Does anyone else besides me whose sim dies from an accidental death allow to actually stay dead instead of reloading the game without saving? I for example intentionally killed Celeste Michaelson from drowning by killing her from a swimming pool instead of using the MCCC mod to kill her and also instead of it being an accident because of it being intentional from at least one of my saved games, but death by laughter was not intentional that perhaps might surprise some people that I allowed that one sim to stay dead. Death by laughter was literally the only time I had experienced an accidental death that was not intentional besides the death by urban legend myth involving teen Mortimer Goth from High School Years expansion pack involving the "Live Fast" aspiration meaning that I have only noticed an accidental death instead of intentional death happen twice in my gameplays.

Nah, I always quit without saving if one of my sims dies. Generally, all my sims live a happy live without drama and dead. My playstyle is very boring, especially if I read all the drama and action on reddit and what people do with their sims. I just don’t have the heart to let they die or bring drama/suffering in my game.

Really depends for me, I may reload but I also may roll with it. Sometimes it can be fun to all of a sudden get a change up forced on me, perhaps my sim will go through the motions to resurrect. Or maybe Ill just leave the sim dead if reload and they wind up dying a second time. They can still be a ghost in the household until I decide if I want them back or to let them stay dead.

Here is an interesting thing. i turned one of my evil and mean sims into a werewolf and turned him full of bad, red eyes the whole bit. this sim doesn't show on the map even though it registered he was there.

so sims shows up and they were immediately in a terrified mood, they ran to a certain location and landed on the floor like they were supposed to be dead. i think they were meant to be, but because MCCC had them all flagged for immortality, they just remained like that until i found a dozen of them just like that on the floor. i had to reset them and make them leave the lot. i found the problem very quickly and solved it so it won't happen again. As for anywhere else? i can't say.

it was a good thing the flag was active on all my sims, i could see all my sims perishing from the same thing if they weren't flagged and they were all taken care of by the reaper.
