For us, you can only play using Origin. Steam does not have the mac port. I'm trying to figure out how this works. From what I've read (Not 100% certain) DLC can only transfer one way.
Steam DLC -> Origin but not the other way around.
If you are a Mac-Player, then Ascetian is right. You can only get access if you install Sims 4 on Steam and here you need a computer with Windows. So, if you are a Mac-Player you need to purchase all DLC on Origin because Steam only offers a Windows license and then you have only access to your Steam DLC if you install/start the base game on Steam.
OMG this is exactly it! Not a Mac user though. So the only thing is that I am scared to unlink the accounts because there is a potential loss of data. I contacted Steam Support twice and both times I did not get a response on how to fix the issue and was eventually told to contact EA Games. I’ll reach out to them today… I wish there was more publicized caution when linking these :( Thank you for the help and guidance!
The other option would be just play it on steam. The linked topic should help to fix your issue and that you get your DLC back. It’s likely that your EA APP has installed your DLC in the wrong folder, so that Steam doesn’t recognize your DLCS. (Repair on Steam should fix this issue too after you copy the folders in the steam path)
