The horse DLC is bugged
When I pay above $40 for a game, I expect it to be polished. Especially a well known game like this one. There is little to no collision on the horses. Items keep disappearing, my sim and their horse get stuck competing and almost die, there is a huge list of more things that are going wrong with this. I am appalled that you would release such an unfinished game for so much money. I hope your devs are embarrassed. I will wait longer before buying anymore "finished" games from EA/Origin. (deep disappointing sigh)

I guess its first time with EA and specially Sims 4 for you which you purchased a DLC for full price, right?

The horse collision is not a bug is a *feature*. I don’t have many issues with this DLC, the only annoying thing is the stupid cow dance. Nightclub? Cowpoke dance! Lounge? Cowpoke dance! Festival? COWPOKE DANCE! I know you will laugh but this pack is surprised stable for a Sims4 DLC.

If I have learned anything about DLCs is to wait for a sale for goodness sake. I think I have the ones I do as a bundle which make them better than half that price. Just sayin. I know if it's something I really want I do the same but very rarely.

Second thing about the DLCs I noticed is they are not polished or complete "in a few ways" if we take Back To Work, for example, there are only certain professions and certain shops you can own. It is very limited for what it "Could have been." I find this the second point to wait for a sale because they usually have more hype than content for a $40 price tag.

I get that but i have been waiting for horses since sims one came out and got it special for my anniversary from someone who knows nothing about games. I was so excited just to have issues. I test games for a living and if I put out something that buggy, I would be fired. lol

Understood. All of these DLCs should have someone working on them at a steady rate at least. I know some games with pricey DLCs and every update includes the expansions (Both add-ons and bug-fix/improvements.) So they are being constantly developed. The Sims I do not see this very much.

works fine for me

My biggest issue is spending an hour designing and hand painting a horse to load it into the game and have the horse disappear. I've spent literal thousands of sim dollars to adopt horses for them to get delivered to my lot and immediately disappear, with and without mods. The same thing that initially happened with infants in Growing Together.

They don't care. The horse DLC was their last ditch effort to make themselves important before they delve into The Sims 5 and leave TS4 behind. They use horses/ranch themes when they're done with a series of games because they know EVERYONE, regardless of play style, will dive head first into horses. Medieval playthroughs, modern day plays, science plays, you name it--people will jump hoops to get horses in games and it typically keeps us distracted long enough for them to work on the next one. Great in theory, not so great when they literally abandon updates as well.

people still purchase LITERALLY ANYTHING from EA in 2023???? Let alone a DLC for the biggest scam software on planet earth, the Sims series?

This is very strange that you get this issue without mods. I know this problem, and it’s caused through various outdate mods (package and script mods). The best would be, that you let the game create a fresh sims 4 folder and test it there again and get sure that you not have some synchro feature active.

How lucky we are that you don’t decision how people allowed to spend their money. If people want to spend their money for EA, then it is so. As long this DLC make somebody happy the money was a good invest for this person.

I spent two weeks creating repeated new saves and it still pops up. Even fresh installed on another PC that's never had the game before and found the same issue there. I'm not sure what caused it. The new PC had no mods at all and a completely fresh save.

Hmm, is your issue maybe this? https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-HR-Horse-randomly-taken-by-Vet-Protective-Services/td-p/12762967 this seems mostly to happen with mares, so the work-a-round is to play with stallion.

If not, then you should create your own bug report here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/bd-p/The-Sims-4-Bugs

If you have a rare bug, then no other person will report this so it will not get fixed. How should a development know that this bug exists if it only occurs with a specific DLC-Combo/playstyle? So, it’s important that you report this, as you say you get this in a vanilla game without any Mods/CC.

its funny the amount of people defending the pack out of pure frustration about the fact that theyve wasted another $40. people keep reminding you that these packs NEVER WORK within the first few months, why? becuase ea rushes out packs for more money and doesnt fix them in time so that people will continue to talk about it for MONTHS. what i suggest going forward, is waiting. wait for the pack to start working, wait for it to go on sale 25% off. you may really love the main feature and cant wait!! but trust me you can, dont ever feel bad, ea is greedy and anybody who says it doesnt make sense to wait or that the pack being buggy for half a year isnt ea's fault and its so hard!! even with the thousands of workers at the company!!, is just butthurt

If somebody can wait or not it’s not your decision. You don’t know in what a situation a person is, maybe the person can’t simple wait because of health problems and want to have a little joy before the pain comes back? Its not your or me case to decision what is important for people. Really, I think many people don’t have any empathy anymore. It’s mostly because I CAN you CAN TOO how dare you are and say you can’t doo this! Living is not so simple.

I am sorry for this rant, but I really dislike such statements. I agree that the quality of most DLC are not worth of full price, but even here is not ME or YOUR job to decision if somebody should spend money for it.

please get a life, youre defending people for not waiting who dont even exist, not to mention the fact that my statement was NOT "YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE PACK TO GO ON SALE!!" and was "i suggest you wait". you can spend your money however you want really, but dont complain about something you clearly understood was going to happen if you cant take advice on how to stop that from happening. even if you didnt know it was going to happen, its not anyone elses problem on how you didnt look into it even a little before spending your money on it, one search can tell you how inconsistent and greedy EA is

I mean, EVERYONE said not to spend 40 bucks on a game pack that isn't going to work. I'm not sure why everyone is all surprised pikachu face that they spent 40 bucks on a game pack that isn't working.
