We can all agree that EA sucks, but this? You're honestly pitching a fit because a game needs a launcher? Many games need a launcher and Sims has since at least TS3. This isn't the big deal you're making it out to be.
Oh yeah. Going to Babbages, Electronics Boutique, Comp USA, or wherever and seeing EA on a title and knowing it's good.
The days when games were made by people who loved to make games. Now they do it for money alone.
Back in the 90's EA weren't this greedy money hungry juggernaut, but neither was Ubisoft or Blizzard or any other big publisher/developer, it started going off the rails early 2000's and got worse as it went along. It was a different time with a different culture. Back then it was games for the gamers.
what about dead or alive 6? it has over 2k worth of DLC
or star citizen some ships costs a few thousand each
or train simulator with over 10k worth of DLC
Your statement is false where The Sims 4 is not the only game in the world that costs $1,000 or more to get all dlc packs, but why would anyone who is smart enough with common sense and worried about overspending money on games spend a full price for any game without waiting for one of those frequent discounts first or not buy from a bundle? The actual price for smart people that have a brain and actually want to save some money will only buy from discounts/bundles. The only exception are kit packs, because they never come with discounts and never come in bundles. If someone were to pay the full price with discounts and bundles only the full price is actually much cheaper than 1k U.S. dollars of dlc. I get that when expansion packs first come out they offer a few extra free items for a limited time only, but those expansion packs when they first come out may not even be worth getting if the cost of getting the pack is an issue because of someone struggling financially, currently lives in a 2nd or 3rd world country, and/or if someone is more concerned about the bugs that comes along with the new expansion pack than wanting to get the expansion pack as soon as possible.
Good to notice that at least someone was apparently not asked about social security number. How could anyone trust EA App and why does EA which is a billion dollar company need to know someone's social security number? EA does realize right that we are human beings with a right to privacy and not slaves to their company? EA treating people like garbage is bad for business. It is not the $1,000 dlc (although, it is much cheaper than that with discounts and bundles) that I am not the most concerned about, but EA App being broken and being worse than Origin. I will also miss the gallery if I am forced into being offline more often as the only way to start The Sims 4 properly because of the frequent server errors with connecting to the internet.
Most big companies want to spy on everyone and violate their privacy by legal means. Microsoft is the worst offender by some distance because they have thousands of telemetry programs and connections that harvest everything you do at every moment of every day on Windows 10 and especially 11 and all that is sent back to Microsoft so they can do a full work up on you. buying a selling of information is very lucrative to third parties.
For EA they want your social security number to identify you directly and for tax purposes, but that can give them a leg up on knowing even more about you outside of a computer, especially if they got allied connections with other services, for example supermarkets they do business with in providing services.
Most people don't even realise this and yet are happy to stick to windows 10 and 11 or hand over details to EA and Microsoft. There is a reason i'm on Linux Ubuntu, to limit what companies can get off me.
I was not asked for any personal information when switching over to EA App or at least not yet despite the fact I use Windows 11 instead of Linux Ubuntu. Origin is not working anymore and that is the only reason why I switched, because I think that EA officially shut it down starting from mid February. Fortunately, I did not lose any dlc that I had already installed in my game, but I still do have multiple concerns about EA App. This is because many people have complained about it and I am still somewhat concerned. I also experienced no issues from my first ever launch from EA App.
