The Sims™ 4

The Sims™ 4

This game is now always on online
Something went wrong and you can't play the game offline at all anymore. previously you could although only for a month because this new "ea app" forced you log back in. But now the game simply refuses to boot unless you have internet connection. To make matter worse, if you dropped connection and closed the game (or game crashed) you absolutely CANNOT boot the game again unless you restore internet connection, I tested it by unplugging ethernet cable. it's absolutely dispicable and disgusting, the only worse thing they could do at this point is close the game completely if you dare to drop connection

I'm so sick of it, is there DRM free version i can get of this FREE GAME anywhere without this nonsense?

There are DRM free games on Steam. The Sims 4 isn't one of them. Google is your friend.

I've been around long enough in my time to be able to laugh when the newbies have their first realization of what gaming has become. I was born before the NES was even released, I got to be along for all of it. It's been a crazy ride. Welcome to the future.

I was born in the 70s. I experienced life before all these confuser (computer) things existed. It's been more destructive than it's been of any help to society and the way we live, our health, etc.

Yep, I've always taken grief when I've said out loud that I think the internet is a double-edged sword. It's both helped and destroyed society. I miss the days of sitting on the beach with my buddies and my girl, in front of a bonfire, and talking/laughing about everything. Now, you go into a restaurant and six people are sitting at a table, all with their phones out, intently staring at the screen and never talking to each other. It's sad.

I agree. And things we really loved and enjoyed doing before cell phones like going to concerts or movies (both drive ins and theaters) is all but dead. :(
I have remorse for kids these days. They have very little to nothing to do and they're so used to only ever doing things that involve staring at a screen they aren't as creative and don't know what things like "Playing Army" outside even is.

Hard to agree for me with you. I dont have friends, so maybe Im wrong. But cant you find people who likes same what you do like? People who like go out without phones? I bet there are group of people like that.
Also, quick story, because group of people with phones not always is that bad.
I work and talk with my co-workers for 4 hours. Then is 20 min of lunch break and then 3 hours 40 min of, again, work and conversation with my co-workers. I use phone only that 20 min at my break. And guess when I hear something like: "young people are ALWAYS useing their phones. Can they live without them?". Yes, during that 20 min. My mouth hurts from laughing that 4 hours and I want some peace, but I have to hear Im badly raised up if I have to ALWAYS use my phone.
Swing, maybe thesee six people were talking about something and now they are googling for answer? Thanks to internet we dont have to argue like maniacs for 4 hours. We dont have to destroy our relations. We can check for answer and talk more about things. You just have to use phone in correct way.

If they were Googling for an answer, and there were six of them, they weren't being very productive... you can bet on that. Let me ask you something... and I'm being very serious about this question. There was once production of an app that would give you a small window in your text screen, so when you were walking and texting, you could see people coming at you so you didn't have to look up. Do you think that's crazy or innovative?

I dont know about first part, that was just an example, that not everything is what it seems. Like my example about my breaks at work.
Second stuff, isnt that innovative? I think it is, but in that dumb way... and I think question should be: "dumb or innovative"... The way we shouldnt go. But you cant stop them. You also cant stop people from glueing themself to the ground. You cannot change the world. Let them do whatever they like, even if this is something crazy. But whats your point with that question?

I was purely interested in what your answer/opinion would be, that's all.

Okay I found the drm free version which i will not speak of here due to rules. But it seems to be working offline immediately. It's pretty good so far, doesn't force updates either so my mods won't be breaking and i can keep my windows gaming drive offline as i always intended it to be this way. So I'll see you all on linux where i do go online
