The Sims™ 4

I need help how to fix Sims 4 so it can start on my pc again
I tried *everything* and yet the game refuses to start up, it keep saying:
"Unable to start: Cannot start becuase game data is missing or damaged. If you have Mods installed please remove them and try again. If not, please repair or reinstall the game via Origin"

I don`t have mods, and I repaired and reinstalled the games via Origin 3 times and nothing, help me pls!

I have the same issue of the game not starting, error box with ''....please install game or if you have then please make a connection using the default app settings''. i have tried verifying the game files, repairing the entire game folder, uninstalling the game and reinstalling, restarting the computer, restarting steam after clearing every cache. why wont my game work?!?!?!!!!!

install from steam only
And follow the on-screen directions. Don't install the EA app and only do what Steam asks you to with it.

Did you have the game on the EA or Origin app before you got it through Steam?

i had it on neither and i only installed it through steam. i did follow all those directions
Try launching the EA app it self. Make sure you can login and you are logged in. Then try to launch the game from Steam.
yep tried that, no joy
and after sitting here at a loss, i thought f* it i'll just press the play button again, and it worked, didnt change anything. no idea whats going on but its working again now. what is going on with this game?
Contact official support, EA support not Steam, if you haven't. As you see there are a lot of people that have this problem. It's a common issue that keeps happening to a bunch of people. Nobody, at least that I'm aware of, has shared what the solution is.

If you get a solution please follow up and share what the solution was.
just checked EA launcher, logged back in and launched from EA and it worked. wish i had tried that before reinstalling the game and losing my family
Your shouldn't have lost your family or any of your progress. The save files are not with the installation files so they're not removed when the uninstall process is run.

Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves

If you're unaware how to get there press WinKey+E at the same time, paste the address above or in the box below in the address bar and hit your enter key to get there. Your saves should be there.

%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves

....unless you manually deleted them. If you manually deleted everything and you didn't empty the recycle bin you can restore them from the recycle bin.
Same. WinKey+E and paste this:
C:\$Recycle.Bin

If the folder says it's empty click "View" up top and then check "Hidden Items" to show hidden files and folders. Recycle Bin is there if it's not on your desktop (the desktop icon button launches it from that location).

I'm not familiar with Mac's if that's what you're using.
I fixed mine by doing this.

Go into \Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop and run EAUpdater.exe

You will get a command prompt that says something like Updating EA Desktop from [12.80.x.x] to version [12.85.x.x]

After that completes EA desktop should open and so should Sims 4. You will also see in the \Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop that two new folders have appeared. One is EA Desktop and the second is outdatedEADesktop

An attempt at translating a suggestion that might be the fix to the horrible, broken, disgusting form of English most of you wrote:

uninstall and delete everything and including appdata for origin and ea app if its there and dont del game files and install from steam only and dont do anything with ea xcept what have to

My point is that a player should "not" have to wait an hour before every time that someone wants to start playing The Sims 4 or some other PC game from EA App (which I am assuming that anima meant EA App instead of Origin), but I did correct a slight error with my grammar from my previous comment and if there is a better way to resolve problems with The Sims 4 from EA App than sleep mode or hibernate if expecting to be away from the computer for an extended period of time (but only if staying at home and not sleeping mainly) then by all means people need to find ways to resolve them. If at any point in the future I notice any problems with switching me over to EA App from Origin I would be looking for ways to correct them as well if possible. I have not switched over to EA App yet, but I do think that it is possible that I might have to eventually.
