Angry sims for no reason
The sims ( mine and npcs ) keep becoming angry during conversations and randomly say mean stuff without me telling them to do that. It does that to everyone and just started to happen one day for no reason. Someone knows how to fix that ?

A Steam Forum search would have given you a huge number of posts about this. It's a bug that came with the second last game patch that introduced the Loyalty Trait. It messed up Autonomous Mean Interactions. A patch is forthcoming.

There was a patch released for this December 6th, 2022. Check the express delivery in your game and get any of the updates you don't have.

Lots of people have claimed that this did not fix the issue. And it didn't for me. EA have also acknowledged that they are still working on the problem.

I haven't seen any of those reports. I might have unsubscribed from those topics on these forums. That could be why I haven't seen people reporting the patch(es) for it didn't fix it.

I predicted the devs may not be able to fix this if it's a mod people experiencing this have in common causing it. That would explain why the 2 (?) patches they released for it haven't corrected it.

I'm not running many mods and this issue wasn't and still isn't happening to me. Sims interacting with each other did improve to be positive more often after the December 6th patch for me.

It's not going to hurt anything for the people experiencing this issue to test the game without any mods to insure it's not a mod causing it before discrediting that suggestion. They might come to the conclusion that it is a mod causing it.

Developers aren't able to fix issues caused by mods (easily in an acceptable way for the community). The mod author(s) have to correct that.

I follow the Sims 4 Community Facebook page and lots of users on there are console players, who can't use mods or CC. I think they are the majority of the complainants of the Mean bug.

That explains it. I'm not on any social networks.
That's a bummer consoles are excluded from using mods and CC. :(
Are you playing on a console, Robin?

Didn't think I would bother anyone, sorry if it did. Didn't see another post about this so I just asked. But thanks for the answer. I wasn't sure if it was a problem with the game in general or just mine.

Nope. I'm on pc. I didn't play that much the last few days so I'm not sure if I updated the game or not. I thought I did but now I have doubts.

No worries. It's not a bother - it's just that so many people don't realize there's a search feature on the forum.

I hope the patch at least makes their interactions positive more often for you as it did for me. Mine weren't being mean to each other more than I reasonably expect with full autonomy being on. Their auto interactions aren't going to be flowers and sunshine every single time but they shouldn't be mean to each other every time they interact either.

From what I have read on different user forums, the bug tended to vary. Some people experienced only a slight increase in the Autonomous Mean Interactions, others' Friendship and Romance bars were going completely into solid red in very short periods of time. For me, it was the latter. The only way I could play the game, was to turn off Autonomous Mean Interactions by using MCCC. Then the game became playable again.

I took a long break away from The SIms 4 which was partially contributed by the fact their was a common complaint about the autonomous mean interaction bug. However, I have noticed a different kind of problem in my game that involves autonomy besides mean interaction (although my sims are not always in a good mood either which is completely normal for The SIms 4 especially after EA replaced whims with Wants and Fears). For example, I try command my sim to do something with very specific instructions, but autonomously my sim can get distracted very easily by things that are not really important besides "needs" (such as hunger, sleep, bladder, and etc...). If I want my sim to paint or write a book on my computer my sim might autonomously want to do something that I want my sim to ignore sometimes only a few seconds after I make a specific command such as cleaning up trash or getting involved with my bushes, wanting to chat with another sim, playing the guitar, and etc... This annoyed me so much that I even turned off autonomy entirely at least for the "selected sim". Autonomy can be fun, but not to the extent where it becomes annoying.
