Sims being mean for no reason?

So, since the new "update" I've noticed a lot more mean interactions during otherwise friendly social interactions between sims with maxed friend/flirty relationships. Seems to be leading towards sentiments like "festering resentment" & "hurt". Anyone else experiencing this?
EDIT- This is stated further down the post but I figured i'd put here for all to see... There is something of a workaround for this problem if you have the MCCC mod. You can click on a computer in the world, select autonomous interactions, then disable mean autonomous interactions. It's not a real solution but it beats watching your soulmates yell at & insult each other every other breath. Hope this helps.

so there is something of a fix using the mccc mod. you can disable autonomous mean interactions by clicking on a computer. works like a charm.

I've heard that it's a bug with the update involving the new loyal trait. They had to change the mean interactions to accommodate the loyal trait (because loyal sims are less likely to be mean, lie, or cheat on their SO), but there was a mistake somewhere and it ended up making all non-loyal sims do mean interactions all the time for no reason, even if they're not mean or evil. And that's like, EVERY SIM IN THE GAME except newly made ones that have been given the loyal trait. They do mean interactions as often, if not more often than friendly interactions now because of it.

This is just what I've heard. I think it makes sense, but I'm not 100% sure if this is the reason for the bug. They'll probably fix it soon but I'd just take a break from The Sims for a bit until it's dealt with, because unless you WANT your sims to be mean to each other, it's basically unplayable right now.

I've noticed a lot of very happy, long term couples suddenly flirting with everyone around and then hating on one another. Which then leads to the 'fear of relationship' moodlet which I can't get rid of (so two bugs- suddenly mean, and the known inability to disable wants/fears).

I wonder if it could have anything to do with the social bunny thing? I don't know if the non controlled Sims interact with it in the same way as our controlled Sims do, but I know that if my Sim gets insulted on social bunny, she gets an angry moodlet which might cause her to be mean to people. So maybe this is happening to the ai too?

Not sure what this "social bunny" thing is (probably something DLC related that I don't have)
But the latest update added a new trait called the loyal trait to base game (which affects everyone)

and now the sims get mean unless they have the loyal trait.

Yeah, same thing was happening for me. Wants & Fears system is very annoying and the option to disable was not working properly, but i was able to revert the system to before (and with that all the negative moodlets are gone), by using this mod: TYR_noMoreFears. Just google the name, if you are interested. Eventually the devs team will fix the "Enable/Disable" option... i hope.

Hope you're right. I think I saw on the official sims board one of the moderators mentioning that devs had been testing fixes for the problem. Their post was on Oct 17. Hopefully that means we're only a few days away from a patch, and this nightmare will end.

I noticed the same thing while playing.. But it only started after my sims had a high level in misschief skill. So maybe there's a problem with that current skill :/ as you said i just use MCCC mod to get over it..

Also "erratic" trait is pain to deal with, similar behavior of sims with that one.

Yep. From any sim computer, you can click on MC Tuning and disable a variety of autonomous behaviours, including mean and flirtation (which typically develops into sims having 'awkward' conversations).
