don't fight it, embrace it! xD
You'll be spending thousands of hours into it before you know it. TS4 can be highly addictive to the right type of creative soul. I know, i have 12k hours invested into it.

i used to average 11 hours a day for months. These days i average around 5-8 hours a day, this is to keep from burn out and allow myself to play it without going overboard doing it, in order so i can just enjoy it casually.

Just recently i had won a bet with Saudi Arabia beating Argentina in the football WC, i had taken the option of getting high school expac since it's on sale. Since i got that pack i've managed to change a few ways i work with child sims heading into teenagers and graduated early in one or two of my teen sims, those teens graduated from university before they were young adults. there are more hours to find.

Also combining toddler traits, scouting, overachiever, the knowledge aspiration to boost learning upon teenage age up and early skill classes in research and debate for extra boost in gain, then getting very happy moodlet, it took just three meals being cooked from cook and gourmet cooking to go from just learned to level 10, the rate of learning for some teenagers are ridiculous now! Potentially clearing all skills to full level from skill classes could be done easily enough on one sim.

with some adjustment and a mod to keep teenagers out of club gear when attending school (especially with those hideous pants female sims wear that looks like they all got a bulge) and increasing the amount of students from 12 to 24. it's starting to look like something interesting all of a sudden. that auditorium is a mess as well, that needed redoing, all four venue options.

it's wet outside, as it is most days at this point of the year, besides i can get my fresh air by opening the window and standing around looking out at the window for 30 minutes or more.

TS4 is the only game that has and will continue to sate the addiction so completely, i don't have anything else that consumes my interest so much as this game. i do play other games but i end up coming back to TS4.

i'm sure as hell not replacing this addiction with a drug or alcohol addiction!

Look at the shiny side. You're wasting your time doing something that interests you that's safe to do, doesn't harm you or anyone, and isn't illegal. The only harm being addicted to video games does is very long term (wasting time you'll never get back you could be using to scratch things off your bucket list, spending time with loved ones, chase dreams).

If you get in to one of the forms of modding you could actually do something at least a little constructive with the time you're wasting like learn programming languages, image editing, 3D modeling and animation software skills.

With the amount of people in this game's modding community making content and mods for Sims 5 probably isn't going to be much different. I don't know about modding as far as creating things that adjust game play stuff like creating a career for the game and stuff like that but I do know how to make custom content like walls and floors has changed very little since the first version that was released 22 years ago.

That seems mathematically impossible lol

26 hours is impossible with there only being 24 in a day.
Not impossible to be awake for 26 hours but it's also impossible to do something constantly for that long without any breaks at all for bathroom, eating and drinking and (hopefully) hygiene.

The question is, are you only just addicted, spending more time just simply because of the game being buggy, crashes (which can unfortunately happen sometimes similar to The SIms 3 even if it happens less frequently than that game), and/or having lag issues, or perhaps experiencing both problems? You need to take into an account as well the aspirations, speed of playing, whether you want aging turned on or off, how much dlc you are playing with since dlc can also be very addicting on The Sims 4, and how much time you actually spend looking at the gallery since the gallery could potentially be addicting and time consuming as well. Also, build mode can be very time consuming on The SIms 4 and not just gameplay.
