Can't install on mac
So I want to have it on my Mac, and I tried downloading just Origin to play Sims 4 straight from there. The idiotic Origin app is such garbage it won't let me download it. I Googled it and they say it IS available for Macs... There's no download button, and I can't run it. Sims 4 even has a little icon that says it's for Steam. So... I can only play this through Steam, even though it's a forced Origin thing? What are they doing?

So I update Steam on my Mac and try to get it. It won't download... It will only stream from my PC. I can't wait until EA finally dies and we don't have to put up with their nonsense...

But seriously, what am I doing wrong here? How do I actually get the files themselves on my Mac?

This is the Steam version of the game. You need the Origin version. The Steam version is Windows-only. Origin version is for Mac or Windows. No idea why you're having trouble. But if you have already installed the Steam version, then that may be why. You will have to remove the Steam version in order to be able to get the Origin version to download.

Oh weird. Thanks for the help. Yeah I have the Steam version already. So, my Origin account is linked to my Steam account, so it knows I have Sims 4 downloaded on PC, so it literally disables the ability to download it on Mac? What kind of garbage is that?
So for a fix, I can just create a new Origin account right? And then it should work on the Mac because it won't be linked to my Steam account?

A second Origin account may mean repurchasing the game and DLC's. Check The Origin settings make sure your able to install on more than 1 PC. Origin used to let you have 2 installs for this reason, 1 for windows 1 for Mac. It may be different now as this was over 5 years ago.

I thought the game was free now?

It is. I suggest completely uninstalling the Sims 4 from Steam and then try downloading the game through Origin/EA. Since you already have an Origin or EA account, you should be able to download the Mac version. Any Origin DLC you already have will be available again, but any DLC you bought through Steam won't work on the Mac version. You could also contact EA Technical support if you are still unable to download through EA or Origin.

Thanks for the help.
So I just created a new account for Origin. I was able to download Sims 4, and it finished downloading the like 20 gig file. I go to start it, and I get an error saying there's missing game data, and that I need to get Sims 4 Legacy edition... So I go to the store and click the legacy edition one. I add it to my account. I click the play button and it still says there's missing game data and that I need the legacy edition... What kind of morons are working over at EA?
Also, I went to post in the Origin forums (it's on Origin after all) and does Origin not have forums and stuff? The whole program seems extremely minimal with like no features.
Either way, any ideas on how to get the thing to actually run?
