The Sims™ 4

The Sims™ 4

sims 4 free. Possibility of data transfer?
Its possibly hopeless, but is there a way to transfer Origin data to a steam account for the exact same game? or will some of us need to work to rebuy all the DLC currently on origin?

I'm wondering this too. the EA app is being wonky on my computer, so i got the base game on steam when it became free. They made me connect my origin account to play the game. But even though my connected origin account has a bunch of DLC on it, steam won't let me access any of it without paying. Even though it knows that I bought sims 4 on origin, because it definitely gave me the kit for buying the game before it went free. Basically the two accounts are connected and so steam has access to my origin purchase history (to the point that even on the steam game's menu it says i own the DLC already), and yet I still can't access my DLC unless I pay for it a second time. wtf.

If you have your Origin acc linked to Steam acc you just need to backup your saves and then download the game on Steam. It'll recognize all the DLCs you have. They won't appear as owned on Steam (because, well, you don't own them here), but they will appear in-game. No need to re-buy.

ok nm it just plays on Origin but steam is detecting it?? kinda weird..
occono Oct 19, 2022 @ 4:35pm
LOL no the Steam version is Steam + Origin. You can't play the game without Origin, Steam is just on top of it when you buy the steam version.

Unfortunately this isn't the case for me. It says I do possess the DLC but that I need to download it to be able to play it. I still have it in it's original folder and even tried copying it to the Steam Sims 4 folder. What did I do wrong?

The saves folder is in:
Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4
Copy or drag and drop the saves folder to somewhere else on your computer like on your Desktop, somewhere outside The Sims 4 folder. Then when you install the Steam version copy or drag and drop it back in.
