The thing that makes men not want to wear clothes designated as “feminine” while women don’t care if they wear clothes designated as “masculine”

It is rooted in the concept that being more woman-like is degrading and it is enforced with peer pressure.
sometimes i dont want a crop top

it is at that. i play sims 4 frequently with over 11,000 into the game and that's all gameplay.
I enjoy the customisation that comes with dressing up sims. i sometimes dress male adult sims in pink and occasionally purple outfits in addition to other colours.

Yeah, I create lots of different characters (stereotypes that is!), and give them fitting outfits for their themed personality. I often disable the fashion choice in the settings, and even more often add a sim with unlocked outfits to the household to give them more to choose from. I own most of the packs though, but I find something for everyone, whether it is Sim Extravaganza or laid back pa.

"Toxic masculinity" is a well used term. Here is a description:

Toxic Masculinity is a construct. The sight your referencing is biased and part of the group that has created that construct.

Note the above term is used as an insult from left to right

CRT on the other hand is a term generally used as an insult from Right to Left... So lets look and see what Wiki say about that. Surprisingly it paints it with the same rose colored glasses as the previous topic. Wiki holds up both Toxic Masculinity and CRT and show's that its not an academic sight but a biased sight weighing in on one side of the discussion.

And with that said it shouldn't be used as a source, as its a product of propaganda much like Mainstream Media is.

That sounds very paranoid to me.

Wikipedia is a communal digital encyclopedia, hence the name, where anyone can create an account and post an article, and edit the articles, in infinitum.

If you search on "toxic masculinity" you can find many more links. The term does not refer to a physical object like a fork, but is a word used to connote a specific behaviour exhibited, to be able to discuss that behaviour.

Isn't this kind of an accurate representation of the real world? There's generally less variety in men's clothing.

Yes, it certainly is, the men's fashion can be very dreary, and in any case conservative.

The game is in a sense more innovative that the real world, which I find better, since it is a sandbox game, and a simulation - but still a fantasy, which means I can dress ma bois up even if they are boys.

Agreed, at least when one understands that 'conservative' here means 'pertaining to the Americanised norm'. TS4 would probably benefit greatly by taking a leaf out of the fashion books of - for example - Greece, where (at least, when I went there a decade ago) most young blokes often prominently wore at least one item of pink clothing, and men's choices were almost as varied and flamboyant as those for women. Historically, pink was masculine and blue was feminine, but IIRC that perception was changed by the marketing team of a prominent children's toy manufacturer some time last century (it may have been Mattel, but don't quote me on that).

Yeah, or any norm. I don't live in US, but the common, generic fashion for men is less fanciful than that for women here as well.
Lovyan Jul 29, 2022 @ 9:18am
I don't live there either, I'm simply using the term 'Americanised' as a general catch-all for those countries (my own included) which often tend to sway in directions forged or popularised in the US in terms of things like fashion trends and the like. I doubt not that other countries that don't may still have similar 'plain' tendencies towards men's fashion (mind you, we might be talking about the same country, too :lunar2019laughingpig: ).

On this topic you guys are hitting all around the problem the mens clothing is typically far too fancy... Just give us some nice buttoned shirts in one color, some polo's in just one color, but no we gotta put lines or patterns or floral design's or random made up logo's... The Men's clothing is not Drab enough lol.... We men are simple no frills, give us a black T-Shirt and were golden...

Can't say I disagree with that sentiment either. I reckon the ball has just been dropped all-round, and what we need is simply an option explosion. More of everything.
