There are ways to influence the gender of the babies in question, by eating certain things, watching certain stations on TV and listening to certain types of music while pregnant. you may have inadvertently chosen the gender of the babies from doing such things.
The chances of getting three boys in a row without external influence is about 0.5*0.5*0.5 = 0.125, 12,5 %
Thanks for the information. And I'm guessing you're using 0.5 as the base number to multiply because the chance of getting a boy or a girl is 50/50 (or supposed to be)? I don't know why I feel weird about just multiplying 0.5 each time to get the probability, but I can't think of a better way so I can't disagree with you.
That is really suspicious to me. Can I ask who your Sims were typically having kids with? Both my Sim women are originals who married Townie men, so at first, I thought that might be the culprit.
I know that in TS2 one or both of the Caliente sisters had a tendency to have twins.
Usually they are CAS created females dating townie men. My most recent was the grandson of my first Sim (CAS female+ townie man = son, son grew up to marry a townie female, had another son) and he married a mermaid female I created in CAS. I really wanted them to have twins, and I was hoping for one mermaid one regular human with the twins, but again I just had another son. I gave them both the fertile trait and turned on the ley line for their house, but nope, just another single boy. I even bought two bassinets, thinking maybe the reason I only ever have singles is because there's only one bassinet for them, but that didn't help either.
I gave in and Googled it and they said that having the Sim eat strawberries and listening to Pop music will ensure a girl, but if elstar is right that would only work if you did it right before getting the Sim pregnant. Now, I'm curious, though.
You definitely have my sympathies. I haven't really worked that hard *not* to have boys yet, but if it keeps happening I'll definitely keep you updated. As mentioned earlier, there are theories about things you can eat and activities that you can have the mother participate in to affect the gender, like the strawberries and Pop music thing to get girls. But at the same time some users who said they weren't trying mostly got girls, so it really could be just a probability thing (this was info I got from the Maxis forums dating back to 2016 when the game was first released).
I know, too, there are mods that can help, but I'm extremely hesitant to mod my game at all right now due to the fact that mods can cause glitches over time (even though they can sometimes help with the glitches that Maxis doesn't fix).
No, what I said was that at conception the gender is determined but it can later be changed, if you have MCC you can check what the gender of the child is. This does not exclude a script made by Maxis counting the number of fruits you eat and changing the gender.
Please go ahead and make a scientific study to check it :). Try eat fruits while your sim is pregnant and see if the gender changes using MCC, the interation from the Medical Career or just let them have the kid.
Okay, thank you for clearing that up! Do you only have access to that interaction if you have the "Get to Work" expansion pack?
Yes you need to get to level 6 in the Medical career from "Get to Work" to unlock the interaction and then have the sim use it on a pregnant sim to determine the baby gender.
Thanks so much for the info! :D
