Is there a way to make the sims speak english instead of simlish/gibberish in Sims 4?
I saw some info on google that directs me to try to change the settings through origin, but the option for 'game settings' is greyed out there. Perhaps this is because i bought the game through steam?

"How do I change simlish to English?
In your Origin Client, once logged in, go to My Game Library. On The Sims™ 4 Base Game, right click and choose Game Properties. Click on Advanced Launch Options and choose the desired language from the drop-down menu."

Is there a way to do this on steam instead?

There is no such setting. Simlish is a made up language that is used inoder to not need translation, instead the player make up there own things that they are saying.

That said, you can still yourself manually translate some words of Simlish like:

Sul sul :: hello
Nooboo :: baby

More words can be found here

In theory you could try to make a mod replacing the sounds but that is a huge undertaking.

Nope, for 22 years Sims have only spoken Simlish, never english. Real musicians have even rerecorded their songs into the Simlish language to be added to the games.

The only language options you have are for text.

it would require a bunch of voice actors to voice their parts in real languages, this includes accents from other countries. I can't see EA springing for something like that when a made up language covers all the bases.

And even if they did would it be better or would the comments get repetitive?

it most certainly would. i turned off sound on ts4 a long time ago because even the simlish stuff was just annoying to listen to after the first 20 times.
