Sims 4 mini rant
So first off i love this series. I’ve played each installment but held off on getting the new new one because Sims 3 felt so completr and sims 4 felt like another EA cash grab.

I finally got the new one at the steam sale. I gotta say its ok… (i also spent around 60.00 in DLC bundles so could get a full experiences. Vamps, Magic, City Living, Resturants and Back to work (♥♥♥♥ you EA for spliting these two).

Its fun but seems like it lacks some of the magic that sims 3 has. What does evetyone else think?

TS4 is a step backwards in many ways compared to TS3. No cars; no stories for sims; the autonomy has no regard for a sims life; content is in bite sized pieces and massively overpriced; small neighbourhoods instead of whole worlds; kits are now the new kid on the block; hand-held through content with carefully worded descriptions; jobs are reduced to rabbit holes except where a restaurant, veterinarian, shop owner, clinic worker, scientist and police officer is concerned; no burglar; babies are screaming furniture... it just keeps going on.

Have you read the most recent TS4 patch notes? it's written by someone who thinks every simmer is at grade school and needs to be spoon fed these silly comments in the hopes they'll understand it in a fun and safe manner (and most of the time i don't have a clue what the heck is being written). TS4 has regressed away from some of the more teenage-adult themes that were touched upon in TS3 and now it's all aimed at young children instead, while the idea of reproduction is left to the art of magic.

I think they took a massive portion of the Sims 2-3 games and made cash grab DLC's

I love the Sims, but it is obvious what they did...took basic gameplay stuff... Split it all apart and started charging money for small parts of a full program... Kinda lame.

The worst part is some of the pieces do not work together well.

What they need todo before ever releasing the next one is lower all prices massively on steam and give people huge breaks for the old chopped up content.

I Just got Sims 4 cause of the sale with enough stuff to have a pretty playable game for around $60-70. That should be the prices for the whole thing.

Base Deluxe, Seasons, City Living, Dream Decorator, Laundry Day, Fitness, Perfect Patio, Cool Kitchen. There are a couple $5 ones with plants and kitchen I might get.

Funny part is they know the game is addictive since Sims 2 which had tons of stuff.

Well as long as sims main audience keeps eating the ♥♥♥♥ up you can expect no change. That main audience does not play other games and typically have no idea that a DLC that is 500MB should not be sold for 20-40 dollars.

There are others in the works and if they'll meet expectations is another matter. Guess we'll find out at some point down the line. EA can't keep going the way it has with TS4 and expect no different heading towards TS5 (assuming more than a rumour).

That's why mods are so important to making TS4 a decent experience even with just the base game and IMO at least Seasons. For instance, I use lots of CC for CAS - there's just some good designers out there who make quality objects - FOR FREE. Also, there's plenty of good scripts out there to help fix autonomy/gameplay issues or enrich overall experience with new careers or stories (of a sort). I've also used a mod like Wonderful Whims to refine relationships into a more real-world dynamic.

I do agree that TS4 is much more of a cash grab than the previous iterations - if you follow any Youtubers who have played The Sims for years, they definitely have their complaints about TS4 - but it also is something that if you look around you can find plenty of stuff for free to make it enjoyable to play.
