Is it even worth getting the game on Steam vs. Origin?

I previously bought the game on Origin. I added it to Steam as a non-Steam game and launched through Steam. After I launched the game from Steam, the Origin launcher would pop up and I had to type in my password. Then it would load the game. When I closed Sims 4, Origin remained running in the background until I quit.

After purchasing it on Steam, when I launch from Steam it logs me into my Origin account and loads the game. The launcher pops up, but I don't have to type in my password like I did before, it's automatically saved. When I close Sims 4, it also quits Origin. For me it's more convenient.

Of course that won't be an issue for someone who starts Origin when they log into Windows and always have it running in the background.

I play with a controller and one other difference I've noticed is that editing the controller configuration in Steam is less laggy than before. But when I'm actually playing the game I don't notice any difference.

As far as price, I purchased the game on Steam for $10 so I'd expect something similar next time it goes on sale.

There should be a setting in Origin to save your password, it doesn't ask me every time.

If you plan on playing the game on a Mac at some point, the purchases on Steam won't be carried over to Origin Mac client since Steam Sims 4 does not support Mac yet.

So I would like to have something clarified before I purchase the Steam version of the base game that I already own through Origin: I understand that all my DLC will be usable FROM Origin, but what if I buy DLC through Steam in the future? Will that update my library on Origin as well? I would hate to ever lose my Steam account, but who knows what might happen. I don't mind continuing to buy DLC through Origin, but there may be a time where Steam has a different deal I would want to get, so it's good to know these things, I think.

yes they'll show in your Origin library. not visibly, bt bcs youre buying from a 3rd Party vendor - theyll still have Keys owned by EA/Origin. though you'll need sign into Steam to access them...
from my own experience - i got Origin Sims4 Basic for free year or two ago. i bought all my DLCs from Origin. Steam release, i bought the Delux version. my Origin library shows both "base" games, bt if i select the Deluxe it opens Steam for me to login. by selecting Basic, i can play w/o login Steam, bt my Tiki Bar and few other items arent available. idk, bcs of DLC, if this would be possible (play w/o College, Magic, etc) or if only works this way bcs of both being Base game.
