Examples:
- Ts3 has big worlds, where as Ts4 has smaller neighbourhoods in any big world.
- Ts4 has better graphics and far better sim customisation compared to the lookalike sims in ts3.
- Ts3 has the colour wheel while Ts4 has specific swatches on each item in cas.
- Ts4 runs a lot better on modern machinery when it switched to 64bit and Ts3 can not because it is 32bit, meaning a high frequency single core processor works best with older graphics cards.
You'll have to figure that our for yourself which is better because i doubt you'll get a uniform answer from any simmer on the subject, and some will always prefer one over the other for whatever reason as well.
Sims 4 runs better though and I personally prefer the appearance of the Sims in the Sims 4 compared to the pudding like appearance of the Sims in the Sims 3. I think the Sims 4 look closer to how the Sims used to look in the Sims 2 and Sims 1. Sims 3, Sims have an uncanny valley kind of look. Graphics wise, the Sims 4 wins easily. Although the Sims 3 can still look gorgeous at times.
perhaps someone could mod it to become more open world, I always liked being able to walk into different neighborhoods with my sims or walk from one neighborhood and into town to visit strip malls and art museums or just chill in the city park
