You have to download the Origin app to be able to play it's so annoying

Did you create an account for origin?

Go to Windows settings → Apps and features - uninstall Origin.
Launch The Sims 4 through your Steam library window. Steam should automatically install Origin (it will ask you for admin privileges first) and link license with your Origin account (internet connection is required for activation).
Also please make sure that you have "where to get apps" option set to Anywhere:

For those who may be confused the origin app is the EA app, It has a repair option. If this does not work uninstall the entire game and the EA app and start again. Also keep your hardware in the back of your mind. If you game on a laptop this will take some time to complete. I wanted to make this clear after fixing my little sisters sims game with this issue. She was unable to follow the advice from not understanding that it was the EA app causing the issue.

Completely Uninstall:
- The EA app
- The game from everywhere you've installed it to. Backup your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder by copying it to somewhere else on your computer like your Desktop to be sure you don't lose anything.

Then reinstall the game from Steam only. The Steam installation requires an installation of the EA app and links it automatically so these steps should correct it.

We don't need the game installed from both Steam and EA, it only needs to be installed through Steam. If you have DLC you've purchased and only have through EA it will work if you only have and run the game from Steam.

I need help - I recently (yesterday) got this game and tried to run it originally on the EA app, but since it wouldn't work (stuck on preparing, "things are taking a bit longer than expected), I got it on steam. Now, when I try to run it on steam, it opens an ea app window the size of a phone screen but immediately closes. Occasionally it'll tell me an error message. First one was the background processes weren't working, so I restarted the background process and checked that they weren't blocked on my end. Then it said that I didn't own the app on my account, but I did on both EA and steam and my accounts were linked. I've tried many times to restart or clear cache on EA app, restarting my computer, installing windows updates, installing newest version of c++, renaming EA app folders, and I've also tried various other methods like downloading an old version of origin. Nothing has worked. I've searched the ea forums, reddit, and just everything on google and I haven't found any other solutions.
