The game won't open
The game was running fine a couple of days ago but when i click Play, it opens up origin, then origin closes and then steam shows the "Play" button.

Bare in mind i have 6 hours in the game and it was running fine so idk why it's stopped working now :(

Try having Steam verify the files.

Have you tried clearing your origin and/or Sims 4 cache?
For origin cache clear: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/
For Sims 4 cache clear: https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/help/cache.php

Clearing the origin cache helped me two days ago when my game would exit during the initial loading screen before main menu.

As always: It's good to do a backup of your safegames before.

How do we backup our savegames? What folders or files should I back up? I prefer to do manual backups of my favorite games and keep them in a folder on my desktop, but I don't know which files have the save data for my Sim families.

I've been trying to repair my game for 2 days now. It freezes while in game where nothing works. Now it won't even open up. I've got the same problem. I haven't heard any feedback from the trouble reports that I've sent in. Really frustrating. Good luck.

Same for me too ...I can't play since the update ... since today :( it was fine yesterday night

This is always the same error message :

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Unable to start :

Unable to start due to missing game data . Please download the Sims 4 Legacy Edition from Origin.
[5de4b8a3:29f00e76:00000000:00000000].

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I already have this legacy version - already downloaded from Origin and Steam -

I read the error message - I re - re - downloaded the Legacy version from Origin

It does not work anyway ... since the update of my PC and the update of the game itself (double update on same day ... no chance !)

Anyone did find the solution of this problem /this error message ??

Although this isn't a fix for my issue, for your issue, go into Origin's game properties and go to advanced launch options and type "-w" for windowed mode. That should fix your issue
