The Sims™ 4

The Sims™ 4

Save Data Incomplete
So, I have had The Sims 4 on Origin for a good few years, and I bought DLC through there. I saw The Sims 4 was discounted on Steam, so I bought it on here, but I didn't buy any DLC, only the deluxe thing. I tried running The Sims 4 through Steam, and everything was going fine, it asked me to link my Origin account to Steam, and I did.

But now whenever I load an old game or start a new game, it says 'Game Data Incomplete'. Do I need to buy the DLC I own on Origin through Steam? Will I need to update something?

your game file seems damaged. check your hard disk health. considering origin makes (or should) make a save game cloud backup, this should not happen. im afraid your save game file might be corrupted. unless its some mod that got disabled on the last update (its the standard behavior each update disables all mods, you need to re-enable them on options after the first game boot after the update)
Well, IDK if it is a damaged save file. The error message still pops up when I am starting a new game. And the game allows me to play old save files, but it just takes away all my DLC items.

it removes all DLC items OR its just an old save without DLC items on it?
do a new save... it should not have this behavior.

It still pops up with the same message when I start a new game.

When I play an old game, it is just the same save, but without the DLC items, so a lot of my characters are missing hair or just wearing their underwear. It won't let me load up some of my old saves, I think the ones it refuses to load are ones with pets or too many DLC items.

ok try this with your game closed down.
go to my documents folder. look for electronic arts. inside should be the sims 4 (your save file)
rename the sims 4 to something like the sims 444 or OLDthe sims 4 - etc what you like.
boot the game. it should create a brand new save folder with files. do a new save with a random sim. save exit then reload the same save.
if doing that there is no error or issue, then is your save folder corrupted beyond repair.
if it gives out errors then is something else.

did you merge your origin install with steam install? moving from origin games folder to steam games folder > steamapps > common or are 2 separrated installs?
Okay, so I was going to do that, but then I got an idea. I uninstalled The Sims 4 on Steam, which also uninstalled it on Origin. Then I closed Steam, and installed The Sims 4 on only Origin, and it seems to be working quite alright now. There is only one household I can't play, but I can play an earlier version of them. And I can play basically all the other households.
Thanks for your help by the way.

Think I am just going to either only play it on Origin or I will delete the old (maybe corrupted) saves.
