SIMS 4 issue with dlc downloads
Hi guys,
I encountered an issue today while purchasing the Sims 4 on steam. I already own the game on Origin and I already own a good amount of dlc, now that I bought the game on steam, I can't seem to download the dlcs that I already own :( I hope someone here can help me

I read some here on the discussions say they can move the pack/DLCs' folders into the Steam installation folder of your Sims 4. I have no telling beyond that. Try searching or browsing :) Might be the same issue.

You download the Sims 4 base game through Steam and then launch it. Origin will open and then I had to re-download the DLC's again through Origin to add them to the new base game. After that, I didn't have any issues launching and playing Sims 4 through Steam and being able to access my previously purchased DLC's that were on Origin.

Steam won't show what DLC's you own on Origin. If you want Steam to show the DLC's owned, you have to re-purchase them through Steam.

Thank you for the suggestions! but opening Origin without launching the game fixed the issue! it downloaded the dlcs I already bought on Origin and I didn't have to re-purchase all the dlc through steam ! I hope this solves this issue for other people who may encounter it

Hi, I am encountering this problem. How did you get the DLCs pack to Steam Sims 4. On Origin, I have all of the packs. And I also re-downloaded the DLCs and thought it would show on Steam Sims 4, but it's not showing up, so I'm not sure if im even doing it right or wrong. Are u able to help me?

I also had all the DLC's/packs on Origin and you won't be able to see your DLC's/packs that are in Origin in Steam. You will only see that you own the base game in Steam once you have re-purchased the base game. The only way for you to see that you own the DLC's/packs in Steam is to re-purchase them.

I did chat with Origin/EA regarding this issue as I was concerned that I couldn't see my DLC's/packs in Steam either and they stated that they are working on an interface so our DLC's/packs will eventually be seen in Steam but there was no ETA on when that would happen.

So does that mean u will have to re-purchase all the DLCs again? .... wow, but how do people even get it to work it's rly confusing.

I closed Sims 4 from steam after linking the accounts, I then made sure Origin is not running in the background via taskmanager, then I launched Origin again (Steam still open) and saw Sims 4 with the Steam icon in my Origin library, I then let it update itself

You don't have to buy again, trust me, I managed to get it working.

So, you got this working without having to purchase the base game again? How? I'll be you-know-what if I have to purchase anything, since I own all expansions, stuff, and games in The Sims 4. I couldn't see the other replies to this; not used to this interface, yet.

If you want the game to launch from Steam and get the access to the Steam features like the trading cards, then you have to re-purchase the base game. Once you install the base game, you launch it from Steam and that will connect it to your Origins account. I had to re-download all the expansion packs/DLC's on the new game in Origins, but I have read where people are just moving files from Origin folders to Steam folders. That didn't work for me so I just re-downloaded the expansion packs it was easier and now it launches from Steam. Origins still opens when it starts. But I haven't had any issues with the game.

If you don't care about the Steam features, you can still launch it from Steam, you just add Sims 4 to your library as a Non-steam game.

I've made a guide on this. Give it a look and if you have questions let me know.

Here is what I did:

1) I uninstalled the Origin version of the Sims 4
2) I installed the Steam version of Sims 4
3) Link the accounts together by launching Sims 4 (I already did that with Titanfall 2)
4) I launched the game to check if the dlcs are recognized as already purchased
5) I did not start my savefiles but instead closed the game and Origin
6) I restarted Origin and let the game patch its dlcs
7) I closed Origin again and started the game through Steam
8) Everything's there how I want it to be

I only purchased the base game on Steam, not the dlcs

Just launching the steam version and then putting in your Origin data to login should be enough
