Origin needs to finally die

Seriously, I don't know why EA keeps pushing their crappy Steam rip-off so hard here. You're forced to install Origin despite playing Sims 4 via Steam. What.

Also, EA is *slowly* bringing back their Origin exclusive games to Steam. It's time for them to pull the plug on this waste of space, since it's inferior to Steam since 2011. And if that happens, they should announce to migrate their Origin account to their Steam account, so that they keep their games and DLC's.

Let's be honest, nobody likes Origin. Steam is enough.

over the years i realized that steam is just as trash as any other drm service that will die as soon as internet dies so nothing getting preserved. only reason i still shop on steam because all my steam wallet cash still here after tf2 trading

I fully agree that Origin should meet its demise in a fiery howling torrent of death. I paid for the game, downloaded it, then was prompted to connect to Origin to download another gamut of garbage. Those dumpster-fire deadheads! I don't need their spyware system connected to all of my orifices to play my single-player game after I've got it on my computer already. It's like buying a DVD or BluRay and being told, "No! You cannot watch the movie unless you register/subscribe to the website first! Now turn your head and cough!" What a load of digital diarrhea. Got my money refunded and bought like 8 other games for summer sale in an effort to bury my tortured memory of this travesty. I've got 100x more entertainment from other sources and always will, but Origin's existence spoils the bunch like ancient leftovers in the fridge. Screw EA. It won't be soon enough when the earth swallows it back into the pits of hell from which it came.

No thank you. Not unless they let me bring my entire Origin library over to steam.
Don't get me wrong. Steam is better than origin any day but I bought all my Sims, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect games from Origin and if they suddenly shut down, my library is lost.

This is why I love GoG more than both Steam and Origin. If they ever go under, my library is safe because I have it all backed up on an external hard drive.

Not true, Origin has an option to stop updates, Steam has not after what 17 years ?

Downloads is always all over the place on Steam even if you change server, Origin always give maximum download speed.

EA mostly brings old games, after getting as much money as possible from selling them on Origin. Can't blame them too, steam's 30% cut is insane in 2020. Imagine if your bank took 30% of any transfer you make.

it's not just their bank through is it, it handles their downloads, storage of games, advertising, sales, records. I mean they have the alternatives of going through a half ass company or trying to sell through EB games, but then they need to pay for physical packaging, physical disc, box design, art work, and all that crap. easier to sell it through steam, bite the 30% bullet and be done with it. yes only 70% sucks, but that means post production all the leg work is done.


Back to the topic at hand, yes origin needs to die, however as mentioned above, during the death they need to be bought out by steam, thus the games people own transfered into the servers.

I laught at people who get this triggered over EA or Uplay having their own Launchers.

Please, this is such a small issue do you really have nothing else to get mad about than if a huge company that doesn't care about you keep using their own invented Launcher?

if you don't like them, simbly don't buy their games - problem fixed you won't have to deal with their launcher anymore!

I really can't take people who get angry over this any sort of serious. I don't like Origin myself but that doesn't keep me from playing games I totally love from them such as the Command & Conquer franchise as well as The Sims. After all, I don't even have to look at Origin, I start the game through Steam and be done with it, so? it's running in the background which I don't care. Maybe I could understand if people had a minimum specs PC and they don't want more launchers in the background but since I don't have issues with my PC's performance like that I can't understand such kind of people.

So the only reason the sims 4 is on steam is just for steam to give you the steam achievement cards that's it and for you to spend your money.
