Game Not Launching, Origin Error Message Saying "Game Was Not Installed"
I just finished downloading the Sims 4 on Steam and launched it for the first time. Instead of the game loading, I go an error notification from Origin saying, quote, "The game The Sims™ 4 does not appear to be installed. Please install it or try relaunching the game." I noticed on my Origin page the game was not installed. I also owned a copy of the Sims 4 prior to launch on Steam and saw that it now had a Steam banner over it. So, just to cover my bases, I installed the game a second time on Origin. The error still persists, but now the Origin download is stuck on the "Finalizing" stage and will not finish downloading. I have validated file integrity, but was waiting to do a fresh install as a last resort. Anyone have a solution?

For me the fix was validate file integrity than restarting the Sims 4 via Steam (it reinstalls the Origin Thin Client) and than it worked for me. The solution for many people online was reinstalling the Origin client. Go to your installation folder: The Sims 4\__Installer\Origin\redist\internal and run the origin thin client setup. Maybe that will do the trick.

I know this post is almost a year old but I just had the same issue you did and had to uninstall Origin and reinstall. Validating files didn't do anything but uninstalling and reinstalling the games launcher (Origin) did.

I've been having this problem a few times now too, and about a 3rd time just now. I very commonly have to validate file integrity but a few times now it starts "first time setup" for whatever reason or won't update properly when it's already up to date and keeps pausing the update. I'm glad it's not just my old laptop but it is so irritating to have to do all that when i just want to play Sims...

I recently started playing TS4 and I run into this problem too. Validating files didn't do anything. I re-installed my game and still the problem was there.
What worked for me was uninstalling Origin than I went to Steam and clicked on the play button from TS4 and from there it installed Origin ánd TS4 and my extra packs and I finally can play again. If you have packs you don't want installed with it than click the X in the download manager.
I hope this helps someone else.
