You have to remember that the game has been out for YEARS, go figure that all that extra DLC is now going to cost an insane lump sum if you try to buy it all at once. The other titles in the series were the EXACT same way. And no in ten years they will still cost that much.

Hell go try to get Dead by Daylight and all it's DLC for under 60 bucks. You simply can't do it even with steam sales.

It's just a fact of life that games with extensive content sales models will want your kidney when you try to buy the 'complete' version in a handful of years.

That's not origin being stupid, that's the consumer base allowing companies to sell you individual pieces of content for the price of indie titles. Everyone shoulda put down their wallets twenty years ago when the trend started. Too late now to ♥♥♥♥♥ about it.

I was surprised to see The Sims 4 here on steam more after seeing the price of DLCs I totally lost the desire to purchase it
Seriously this must have been some mistake in the prices, it didn't make any sense the value of these DLCs

Well, EA still threats the way The Sims DLCs work as full expansion packs that cost the same amount as the base game. The same happens with The Sims 3. Now, these expansion packs came out n the span of 6 years, and they are all meant to be bought separately from each other. Looking at the total price of every expansion pack seems ridiculous, but it is a common theme that everyone will tell you: you don't need to buy all of them, only get what you want to have, and then you have mods.

I know £430 of DLC, as if.

The nerve of some people to try to charge £35 for one small expansion. Greedy beggars.

i am sure civ 6, fallout 4 and stellaris didnt cost 500$ for their game + dlc and i can tell you so many people complaint than those games abuse with dlc

well it seem ea is able to beat bethesda, ubisoft, paradox game, firaxis and all japanese video game with the most expensive game+dlc title XD

It doesn't help that the majority of Sims users (just look at the Sims Forum for examples) will lap up almost any pack they're given because it adds one or two desirable pieces among a shed-load of ♥♥♥♥.

all dlc is extra and none of it is required most of it is just clothes and furniture anyways its like train sim whos buying all dlc for train sim its just to add variety its also a 5-6 year old game so yeah it would have amassed quite the number of dlc of which the main features of all dlc is added in the base game for free like recently ladders were added which was one of the most requested features in a long time or the huge stair update from a couple months back
Locklave Jun 19, 2020 @ 1:07pm
Think of it this way instead. Is this game with all it's dlc equal to 10 full games of cost? The answer is no.

CK2 has the same mental problem where they think their years old game and DLC is worth hundreds of dollars preventing people like me from buying. So instead of the $60ish it's all worth, they get nothing from anyone that it's looking to burn money.

See the game at 13$
See 1 single expact at 30$

Does that expact add twice as much content to the base game to deserve that price? No? Than it's not worth my money.

I was about to buy it then scrolled down to see what DLCs there were and to see if there was a "deluxe" or something version that maybe had everything like a lot of older games do, only to see that not only is that not the case, but even on discount there is over 500 dollars of DLC, I couldn't believe it lol.

Oh well, I'll just wait 5 or so more years til I can get the entire game for like 50 bucks like I did with Sims 3, after sims 5 is out lol.

And norally, as per teh market of today, DLC costs only a fraction of the base game.

36$ CAD in discount EACH DLC that you need because the base game was a complete joke :lunar2019laughingpig:

it is all the industry that have this problem, it is harder to find a game without dlc, you see the game and after you see a big list of dlc to halt you to buy this game XD
