What DLCs are worth getting?
Bought the £17 base game, this will be my first time trying Sims 4, if I enjoy it then I might buy 1 or 2 DLCs, only the ones that are currently £12 or under though, what would be your suggestions?

Well the base game is plenty to keep you busy for the time being, but for DLC I would say look to some of the expansion packs like seasons which adds stuff and mechanics to the base game but doesn't come with a new map. Then next up is university if you ask me as this also add a decent amount of mechanics and new stuff to lay around with. The other expansion packs are on your preference.

As for the other game packs (middle price) it also comes down to preference, but most of them also introduce new mechanics to play around with.

And the Stuff Packs (lowest price) they are mostly cosmetics with the rare new mechanic like a buttler in one of them.

But buying them full price is a sin if you ask me, so wait for a -50% sale on expansion packs for sure. Though not sure when that one will come around again as they held one just before the steam release on Origin and I see the Steam release sale does not cut that deep for the base game and expansion packs.

Thankyou! I will look into your suggestions, right now they are too expensive for me so yeah hopefully a 50% sale will come around eventually

Is the build mode any better than sims 3 as I like building
I can't remember a lot of my sims 3 days, but the build mode in the sims 4 is pretty decent for sure. Especialy now that they have added the option to add stuff not on the grid. Hold down the Alt key for that as it is not realy explained.

You should buy them all. For 500€ you get tons of cool stuff.

Lol definitely not spending that much!
Now you are not ready yet and resist, but later you will begin to call it "my precious!"

I play Sims 4 a lot on Origin and I got almost all the DLC, so here is my opinion :)

Best Expansions:

♥ City Living; you got whole new kind of town to visit, new type of lot such as Karaoke club.

Food spot/booth where you can eat or learn a new cooking recipe such as Asian food.

Event or Festival spot where you can find the city event such as Valentine's Day and so on.

Work from home career, such as Internet/ social media jobs, Food or art critic and political related jobs.

New type of living lot, such as Apartment and Penthouse.

District, where you can visit in each different part of the city, Art district, Fashion district and so on.

♥ Get to Work; you got a new variety of jobs and careers where you can be there and control the sim on their job, on your own.

Retail, you can open or buy a business, such as store or bakery, hire and manage your employees and so on.

♥ Seasons; Sims world will now having a seasons and calendar which can affect the world and your sims.

Seasons activities, such as Halloween where you can decorate your house and do trick or treat. You can also create your own activities on the calendar.

New garden activities and job.

♥ Cats and Dogs; if you like pet, this one adding cat and dog where you can customize breed on your own or adopt them around the town.

Vet clinic (with Get to Work DLC, you can also own it) and pet park lot.

New beautiful little coastal town.

♥ Get Famous; adding Hollywood theme and actor career, also new fame system and skill that can benefit your sim, new music related career. adding some new gameplay to your sim.

♥ University; adding well... University :P with classes and university activities, also you can now have student loan for your sims! Finish university can also boots your sims careers and some set of skill.

Least important Expansions:

- Get together; you just get some new world and new club type, doesn't change the gameplay that much, however if you like party stuff including cloths or hair style, you may like it, but I suggest to get it on sale.

- Eco lifestyle; New gameplay for your sim and sim world, adding new kind of activities related to environment, not that I don't like the idea, I loving it! but the content wasn't that much and most of it features only work in this new world.

- Island living; it is the most beautiful one, you get the whole new Island to visit, with beautiful scenery however, that pretty much the whole DLC, it like an one giant park lot, you don't even have the hotel. :(

The key DLC: City Living, Get together, Get to Work, Pets, Discover University, Outdoor Retreat, Seasons
The expansive DLC: First pet, Spa day, Cool Kitchen stuff, Backyard Stuff, Vampires, PArenthood, Jungle Adventures, Realm of Magic, Get Famous,
The Niche DLC: Eco Lifestyle, Island Living, Strangerville, Tiny Living, Laundry Day, Fitness Stuff, Toddler Stuff, Bowling Night, Vintage Glamor, Kids Room, Movie Hangout, Spooky Stuff, Romantic Garden, Luxury Party, Perfect Patio, Moschino Stuff

Key DLC: Generally these are your core gameplay features. Apartments, Groups, Interactive Work locations, Cats and dogs, University living, camping and weather are the respective add ons here. It's very hard to go wrong with these.

Expansive DLC: These are add ons that generally improve gameplay or add something fresh, but generally aren't required unless you're interested. Again worth it IF you're interested.

Niche: This stuff...is crap. These are your woke agenda pushing DLCs that add questionable or outright stupid features to the game. Chances are for some of the better ones you might use the options once or twice but NONE of these DLCs are something you gotta have. Take bowling night... if you have zero interest in bowling why bother? Vintage glamor, okay your posh sim might want to look even more fancy? Eco Lifestyle - someone honestly wanted to portray eco politics in the sims. Island Living adds swimming.... only usible in IT'S neighborhood no where else. Honestly unless you're a DLC completionist or have money to burn, avoid these, the 'content' is questionable in use and value.

If you are ingame you can also click on them to look what objects and cloths they add and a small description of added functions as well. But as you see a lot of people have a lot of different opinions, as I have seen people swear by high and low that Island Living is THE BEST. Sadly to I have to agree with Molly there that it is under performing and does not deliver what I want out of my sims game. Same reason why I avoid Vampires and the magic counterpart of it, though they do add more rpg elements but sadly not in the theme I look for.

For Game packs (Gameplay DLC :P)

The Best Game packs:

♥ Dine Out, especially if you got the Get to Work Expansion, this one adding the restaurants lot where you can own it as well, new gameplay related to the restaurants I have so much fun manage the restaurant here. :P

♥ Jungle Adventure, new adventure gameplay, visit new beautiful town, hunt treasure, be friend the local, and enjoy new activities.

♥ StrangerVille, New gameplay related to Alien and conspiracy stuff.

♥ Realm of magic, Adding ... Magic stuff :P Where you can learn the spell, become a witch or wizard.

♥ Vampires, Adding ... Well ... Vampires where you can become one of them and learn vampires skill and spell.

The Least important packs:

- Outdoor retreat, you got the new big national park where your sims can visit, but that about it. :P

- Spa Day, you got .... a spa lot. New spa activities for your sim. :P

- Parenthood, just adding a new parenting skill for your adult sims to taking care your sim children.
Molly ~ Jun 19, 2020 @ 11:44am
We also got the stuff packs, which is pretty much not that important only some furniture, cloth and "stuff" like that :P

I got only; Bowling Night (add bowling lot), backyard, fitness, laundry day, tiny living and Vintage (adding butler).
