Am I doing something wrong?
So a few things. I play on normal difficulty. I'm fully upgraded. I feel just as squishy as when I started the game though. I have good guns that I like and are modded out to my liking and match my play style. Yet some of these enemies are so tanky that I have to switch to multiple weapons to take out 1 or 2. Like mag dumping into an enemies face that has a shield, just to take out the shield.
Is the game supposed to be this unforgiving on normal? All the enemies seem to have laser guided accuracy. Even sliding and jumping and grappling all around the map I am still consistently taking damage. The only way that I can ever stay alive is if I'm also consistently hitting the enemies for the healing effect. Yet I'm still always at low health. I mean I find the game fun but certain aspects of the game like some of the side quests are simply far too difficult, I feel like I'm playing a FPS version of dark souls, if all dark souls did was through endless spawns of enemies at you. Any advice? Or is the game really just this difficult?

For shielded enemies you either wanna go Haywirepulse because it’ll deactivate the shield and then they’re just a regular enemy or use blast/crush or just one of your harder hitting weapons.

And honestly it’s only difficult like that on the S tier bounties.
Game kind of does a doom eternal except instead of having to use your weapons in a specific way to really excel it’s just using your abilities to their fullest.

Part of it is just practice I'd say. Stringing together the various abilities while you keep moving is mostly how you deal with the general mass of enemies.

And while you can simply dps down most enemies, for the guys with yellow shields Haywire is by far the most efficient solution.

Having some protective effects on status items and the armor may also help a little.

This game has its fair share of bs is all I could say after running campaign on oldschool for the third time now.
You can find armor with energy bonus, which helps a lot because enegery is cooldown and it allows you to use abillities more often.

Use abilities as much as you could. All of them. Use dog. I use autogun+perfect aim and grav gun/longlas and 99% of oldschool is very doable with such setup.

No, the game is just stupidly hard in a cheap way, with bullet sponge enemies everywhere. I got stuck at the Goliath boss in level 5 which could kill me in 3 hits after I emptied my entire ammo reserve into his face. I've had enough of this poorly designed game myself.

Dont't worry, the same thing happened to me. On Normal I got stuck on the respawns while trying to stay away from him and even on that difficulty his ranged attack hurts a lot and seems to be way too accurate. Trying it on Hard was even worse. When I eventually came back to it with another character though I did it on the first try... Probably partially because I had done some Bounties and had upgraded my character further. But also keep in mind that the respawns make it inadvisable to move to the edge of the map. The center of the room has some obstacles that you can use to block his ranged attack.

I agree it's a bit ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but it's also in my opinion easily the worst part of the game.

I did not yet see an enemy with a shield but the tooltip said you should use the grapple to remove the shield.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
