I'm terrible at this game. I keep playing it like I play other FPS shooters, basically walking around shooting and doing take downs when I get close enough.

You guys got tactics I can benefit from? Even basic level ones? I don't do any wallrunning and shooting while doing so because I'm concerned my aim will be bad, also I'm concerned about falling into lethal areas.

Don't ever stop moving, and don't ever not be shooting someone. If you are not doing one of these things in combat, you'll die almost instantly. Don't worry about aiming carefully so much as just making sure that SOMETHING is being hit. Also use the grenade launcher, it's hilariously overpowered.
Wall running actually has auto-aim built in. But wall running is actually a situational thing so it can't really be relied upon. That said, I'd say that unlocking all augments and learning how to effectively cycle through them helps a lot.

Blast and Crush lets you instantly remove hard hitting enemies that have refractors. If you run into more while those two are on cooldown, Haywire Pulse and Shock works, just gotta grapnel to them first. Perfect aim lets you mow down a bunch of mooks quickly, and Heightened Senses is great for buying time, repositioning, or anything else really.

Using the wallrun / dodge / ground slide animations gives a bonus to dodging (evasion) which nullifies damage. At least dodge left, right, left, right, or ground slide towards the enemy. The main thing is try to have fun and look cool doing stuff. Everything else should take a back seat. Take out half of the enemies from a distance (or sneakily roam areas, multiple pathways), then jump in the middle and go crazy.

Dont get bogged down. This game is all about speed. Alot like doom actually. You will figure it out once you are confortable with the abilities and mastered the dance.

Use grappling hook to take off the shields or get to single enemy close enough to take him down.
Doublejump and dodge melee guys (ambots are nasty so only get close to those to deliver shock or crush and then jump away firing most effective weapon you have)
Doublejump and grapple to quickly navigate through the area.
Wallrun if you have an opportunity since you have autoaim while wall running.
Spam dog and abilities as soon as they recharge in combat. Rebind the abilities keys closer to the wasd keys or if you have extra buttons on the mouse bind on those.
Throw grenades into the crowds, use funeral ball or wraith for crowd control.
Modify weapons you have to get the best out of those.

Another thing, when you reach the save points, stock up on stim packs. They're extra lives basically, and they'll help you through tougher fights. With shooting while wallrunning, use Perfect Aim first, you really can't miss.

Been playing a bunch on the hardest difficulty.

You can basically never not be moving, and not be shooting someone. Seriously. You need the constant healing from shooting people in order to live.

I mostly use an accurate bolter, and then the Hassin's eye modded to maximize single shot damage. When charged up, it pops any shield in the game despite low penetration.

Either that or the plasma gun, just cause I think they're cool. This game is really fun. Have about 2 million credits at this point.

You can't really kill every enemy, so try to focus on going toward objectives by using the double jump, dash (you can dash in midair too), and grappling hook.

Those will keep you moving fast enough that you won't have to worry about guys behind you.
