Secondary Missions Harder than Oldschool
I have to say, that is one immense difficulty spike. First time I went to it, I got my boy-parts BEAT like an abusive spouse! Second time I came much more prepared (had to do some more grinding of Chapter 1), and even then, I had it set to "Easy" but was the opposite.

For whatever reason, the B-List Secondary Missions (the ones that open up as soon as you beat Chapter 2) give some of the best loot in the game, with +1 and +2 goodies dropping left and right - even found the first +3 there, and I got the achievement to prove it.

The punchline is, when I first tried it, I thought I accidentally set the difficulty up. On the second go-round, I carefully double-checked and made a deliberate effort leaving it at "Easy", and that's when the gold-shielded maidens came to town...along with unlimited spawns!

Yeah, you get to the middle of the cut-off version of the main game's map, and you'll find bad guys both in front AND behind where you came from.

Is this a glitch? Or are these contracts supposed to be "Challenge Mode" that I'm unaware about? And, for all the "Faction Reputation" earned, what good does that DO? I don't think maxing out with the Inquisition will get me nominated for a Space Marine chapter (although the protagonist absolutely fights like a Space Marine as-is, minus power armor).

I love the Doom Eternal gameplay vibes, and I see the artistic intent of what I feel is a very "Cyberpunk" visual aesthetic...it's just something about that difficulty spike does NOT sit right with me!

The side missions can definitely be a real pain, with enemy types and spawns seemingly designed to inflict maximum anguish upon the player. Some are okay, others are borderline unplayable.

Fully agree with this! I would love it if there were a "safe" side mission mode that didn't have unlimited spawns and crazy powerful enemies...

Haha. I dont know how anybody plays OLD SCHOOL PERIOD. I would love to but the game still needs a bit more work for that IMO.

The side missions definitely require a different playstyle than the campaign.
You need to abuse the Double Jump, Dash, and Grappling hook to move around the map at insane speeds.

Obviously, you can't try to kill all the enemies. You need to only kill the ones in front of you, and work your way towards the objectives.

And it also helps to have some powerful weapons.

Still working on it, though I can definitely handle "Hard" without having to max out the Armor stat (dedicating those items to Loot first, though with so many purple items, I might want to think about going in with the Armor).

In theory, it's doable, but it takes some notable prep-work.

Yeah, even the B-list enemies can be absurdly tanky, eating 40+ Bolter shots, all while the chaff respawns infinitely. Have fun staying inside and defending a tiny circle with no cover while endless enemies run at you with plasma guns.
It reminds me of another game they made E.Y.E Divince Cybermancy - the main missions can be challenging but not too difficult. The side missions tho seem like it's just endless respawn of sponge enemies which really screws the game flow

In E.Y.E the biggest issue in side missions was running out of ammo, now it being overwhelmed because so many of the enemies tank all the damage. Admittedly I play on Old School but so far in the campaign I have had no issue, usually not being downed - in the side missions I am yet to complete one.

Really?! I find old-school difficulty to be easy, by now.

Don't get me wrong-it is a challenge, for the first few missions, but then you start getting +2/+3 guns and earning enough cash to upgrade yourself.

And soon enough you're maxed out upgrade wise and that's when the game switches to ez-mode, no matter what difficulty, since both Blast and Crush begin one-shotting ALL non-boss mobs, you get to melee takedown Ogrins and Ambots and you one-shot everyone with your power knife, when you strength boost+slow mo... And you, also, get aimbot power...

And by the time you've done a full circle, Blast is off of cooldown...

It's boring.
