Health regen in the game is bad
So im like half way through the game on hard, and i gotta say, why is the health regen in this game so horrible?
Is it just me? it seems like some units there is no real way to ignore or dodge their attacks, and it dont see any way to be able to take their damage AND beable to regen health, on top of no medkits or health pick ups in the game.

Am i on an island here or would this game be way better if they had medkits in levels.

Gotta be aggressive. You gain health by shooting folks, so just always be shooting folks. Stuff like double jumping, wall running and grappling all give you a chance to dodge damage, so you can use those abilities to try and avoid getting shot.
We definitely need a bit more health leech or more med kits, at least at higher difficulties. Sometimes the incoming dmg is completely unsustainable, even if you're playing at peak aggression.

Yeah like im getting one shotted by things and i have a +3 undershuit on and stacking HPs, and its just like completely meaningless.
Like for example the knife you can pull out and melee people? 100% death sentence on hard, is absolutely unusable.

I haven't played a ton, but it feels like your shield is mostly just for show? I swear damage gets through even when I still have shield to spare.

Having a shield that's restored via pick-ups and health that's restored by trading fire seems really weird, too. It's not an intuitive balance, imo.

The shield in this game functions like hl2 suit energy or doom armor, it doesnt block damage, it just mitigates it while you have it.

Damage does go through. It doesnt block All damage, just some.

The game curves very oddly. Your armor will get more meaning as you put additional upgrades into it. At max upgrades it feels more like you would expect it to. The game also very clearly tries to incentivize using the janky redundant wallrunning mechanic, but ironically the layout of the maps do everything in their power to make sure you will never use it. It's a typical Streum on masterpiece; there's fun features but they're horribly implemented. Wallrunning would allow you to evade attacks by an artificial "dodge" modifier (presumably causing hits to have a chance to not damage the player).

By far the biggest reason the game feels unfair is because certain enemies simply shouldn't be fought head on. This is one of those things you'll get used to after a while. If you see an enemy with a shield you do not try to blast through it, you grapnel them and then use your execute to break their shields.
