!SPOILERS! so is nobody gonna mention the lore implications of that one sewer level?
like...

those are tyranids.

straight up the same tyranids that destroy entire planets and consume their biomass like this universes version of the flood from halo or necromorphs from dead space.

is like... nobody gonna report this kinda thing to the space marines or something? especially since necromunda is the largest and most valuable (supposedly) hive world?

i feel like this is something they would wanna know.

You really think that the population of Necromunda would take a chance on the message getting to a trigger happy inquisitor that will order an Exterminatus on the planet? Naw Space marines are a last resort because they destroy everything and hence they destroy everything because people don't call them in time. Yet another way that the 40K universe is it's own worst enemy.

Necromunda has always had genestealer cult infestations on it. There is an entire hive called Hive Secundus that's been abandoned and has a permanent ring of defenses around it to try and keep them in after they bombarded the hive from orbit.

Err... first of all those are not a full blown fleet there but a vanguard: the genestealer cult infestation. Usually it takes few generations to take a root there and start uprisings to weaken the defenses so what you see down there is just a beginning of the end that might come in a century or couple centuries from the time of the events.

Second of all https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Cult_of_the_Second_Son

Third, let's not forget that lot of time such reports would end up with something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h67JpMyrOVE

i mean you saw the reaction of your character they don't even know what it is

Those aren't tyranids, just a genestealer cult. Not a huge threat unless a hive fleet is headed for the planet. Ok, some of them might be nids, but without a hive fleet behind them they aren't THAT threatening to a hiveworld.

Even more lore breaking: The genestealer cult is openly handing out side mission bounties.... Even for underhive thats a bit unlikely. So is the Helot chaos cult.

I head canon it that they are using some more subtle front organisation but the player character knows who they are really working for.

Ya, the game could do with a bit more subtlety to allow for that grey area that both the gene-stealers and chaos cults are known for. After-all that is how they overtake populaces - through cunning rather than a big sign advertising 'Hey we are a precursor evil corrupted gang for an even more destructive force!'. Genestealers AND Chaos tend to go for either the bottom-up or straight up install a proxy admin.

Do you want Space Smurfs.. because that is how you get Space Smurfs

No-one wants to let the news off-world unless they want a case of Exterminitus.

No underhive dweller is going to alert the upper levels because they aren't allowed there, and the Arbites would probably shoot them just for being underhivers.

No mid-tier citizen would report to the arbites because they'd be "interrogated" until they look like a melted crayon, then would kill them because point 1.

For dramatic purposes, chaos cults and genestealer cults are pretty obvious because Warhammer. I imagine in reality they're not going to infiltrate the hive defense forces unless they only send pass-for-human hybrids out in public.

I find it extra humorous that Genestealer cultists don't realize they're gonna be Tyranid slurpees if any Hive Fleets show up.

There's tyranids everywhere man.
Lex Jun 3, 2021 @ 1:30am
If you want your Hive being destroyed, call the Space Marines. Sure the threat will be eliminated, but the whole Hive will probably collapse.
If I'm not mistaken, when the Imperial Fists dealt with an ork invasion on Necromunda, this is how things went. The xenos got purged, but the hive they attacked got destroyed aswell. It's a bit like cutting a hand to save the arm.

And I'm not sure the inhabitants of the Underhive want to get the Imperium's attention.

THIS

Plus Tyranids tend to start their spreading on planets by infiltrating and smaller batches of genestealers. And even 40K, also in this universe space travel takes time. You are just playing a short time spam of a story. But even if anyone reported it, till anything would happen, the tyranids have already obliterated half of the hive city.

well I mean necromunda has been filled with genestealer cults for a long time in lore, its safe to assume the tyranids have been targeting it for a while considering how much biological material is concentrated there.
