How to Get Playstation Button Prompts for Detroit: Become Human on PC?
So, I play DBH on PC and I bought a PS5 controller to play it properly because it's just not playable with a mouse and keyboard. And the game doesn't display the PS prompts, only the XBOX ones. No matter what I try with Steam Big Picture. It just doesn't work. Does anyone know a way to make it work?

As long as it was an PS exclu I assume they added PS prompts on PC. Btw your comment is useless.

Yeah but it's kinda frustrating, especially when you know that the majority manages to make it work

I have a PS5 controller. I want to use it to play Detroit. It "technically" works. But, instead of PlayStation button prompts, I have Xbox button prompts displayed on the screen and in the game settings. What's not supposed to happen as I'm using a PS5 controller. And just can't fix it. And it drives me mad.

steam>settings>controller>general controller settings>uncheck playstation configuraation support
this game(the pc port) does support playstation button prompts.
Remember that setting because you have to enable it for games that don't have native support for ds4/5 and need an xbox controller. Steam made that setting to allow ds4/5 to work with those games.
FYI the gyro(motion) controls wont work no matter what but the touchpad will work within the game.
There shoudl be a way to have that setting unchecked for particular games but I dont remember.

I think there's an entirely new issue now. Sony, has changed the original firmware updater app to "PlayStation Accessories" app. And I've updated firmware on my controller.

It's been a while since I played this game on Steam, but when I tried it first, it worked fine with in-game UI having PlayStation style. I don't recall if I was or wasn't using DSX at the time. That program has undergone massive changes as well since I've played Detroit.

If you go full native (which works perfect for game like Until Dawn, including gyro controls on the 'don't move' quick-time events), with no Steam input, no DSX, it's unplayable. You cant even pick things up with the joystick. If you enable Steam Input, at least the joysticks work right; but in-game it's still xBox buttons. Even if you download community input packs for DS5, it still doesn't change in-game.

Changing gears, if you introduce DSX, and force PS4 controller, the Detroit Controller settings from steam will pick up it's DS4, but it still says incompatible. Even if you download community packs for DS4 - it STILL in-game shows as xbox.

I'm pretty good with testing and writing test cases, but I don't know what else to try at this point. DSX is definitely not a help, it just ad's a layer of complexity if anything. I'm not sure if it's because of the switch Sony made in apps to update the firmware of the controller, of if it's an issue with the Detroit game itself. My next step is to research if there's mods for Detroit to display PS style buttons; because I can't play like this on stream. There's videos on YouTube of streamers using the gyro to open doors with this game, somewhere along the timeline the functionality went into an alternate reality.

I just tried v20211117/Build 7662975 from a previous *ahem* backup, and it's also the same at this point. In fact, on this build, it has the issue others over Reddit has described. ABXY/X Circle Square Triangle is alllll messed up. Using right joystick pointed to the left does the infinite circle; same as others reported.

I found a work-around. Today, I bought a bluetooth adapter. Connect the controller to PC via bluetooth. Tell DSX to emulate PS4 controller. IGNORE the button on the Detroit splash page in steam for controller settings. Instead, right click the game, go to properties, choose Controller. On the "Override for Detroit: Become Human settings" choose "use default settings". Make sure Playstation has a blue dot next to it with "enabled, general settings".. then boot the game. It will show PS4 controller finally in the games controller configuration settings.

Then profit :)
