I'll Be Back Achievement Via Redoing A Chapter
So if I were replay a chapter I was just on does that affect the achievement being obtainable. Meaning do I have to reset the entire story again in order to play the chapter I missed a death on?

It shouldn't do.
I got the one for never losing a fight despite restarting from checkpoints a few times.

I mean if it works like the other Quantic Dream games (which I'm pretty sure it does) then when you replay from a particular checkpoint, it keeps all variables locked to the values you had them on when you last played through that checkpoint. You have to be saving your progress for it to count though.

One thing I have NOT tried doing, however, is replaying most of the game very differently to the previous run, then loading a later checkpoint where my saved actions in the early game should have changed the late game...

You can get achievements from redoing chapters, but the checkpoint you load from will have all the decisions you made up to that point baked in. If you want to make a change for an achievement that comes later on, then you will have to continue playing up to that point, and have selected "save" when you reloaded the chapter. Same for chapters that play out completely differently based on decisions you made earlier. For example if you completed the game with all characters alive, you cannot go back and replay "Stormy Night" and get Alice and Kara killed, and then jump forward to play "Battle for Detroit" with them dead because the checkpoint was generated with them alive, so you would have to continue playing up to that point. It can get confusing when chapters have multiple checkpoints across multiple paths, as each checkpoint is saved separately, so if you replay from a checkpoint, it is difficult to remember what state the game was in when that checkpoint was created.

To answer your original question, I believe you would have to continue the rest of the game from the chapter you missed a death.

You need to start from the chapter which decides about the outcome you want to achieve, for example if you want hank to kill connor after visiting the club, you need to play since the chapter where you had to decide wether to help hank or chase android - you need to leave hank, and then kill tracis

oh wait i misunderstood it, if you want the ill be back achievement, it must be done in a continuous run, so you cant skip any chapters

I'm pretty sure you would be able to skip the earlier chapters before the first death you missed, or as you say if the death was determined by a previous chapter then you would need to jump in at that chapter but you would still need to play through the rest of the game again to get the achievement. If the death in "The Hostage" was the only one you missed then you would need to play the whole game again, but if the death towards the end of the game was the only one you missed, then you could jump in and get it.

Yes, yes, I just meant that you cannot skip chapters via chapter select, because actually in some of them there are several possibilities for connor to die. Also you need to finish THE ENTIRE GAME to get this achievement. I want to get that too, since I'm only missing this one achievement, but I'd need to play it from the beginning cause my gameplay is too messed up due to me doing the rest of them :er_angry:
