My first time playing through the game, I also tried to commit to whatever results I ended up with in each chapter, and not replaying any of the chapters for a "better" result. But in the end, that caused two of the playable characters to die pretty early, and the third one to get the "least-desirable" story ending. It's likely that you'll want to replay the game and deliberately guide the story a certain way to see more of the story (and get the "good" endings, as the writers intended).
Markus' deviance is inexorable because the revolution is linked to other characters' stories therefore you can't really change anything in the beginning of the chapter otherwise all the stories will end too soon. I think it's a little bit weird if you just peacefully finishing the Stratford Tower chapter and the Capitol Park chapter since you show no harm to humans, yet the riot police still attacked you.
It's really sad isn't it when both broadcasting your demand on tv, messing up the android store and massive protest make no difference but at the very last moment when the whole Jericho crews were almost killed the humans stop.
