I wanna share a fix, that worked for my GTX 1650 (laptop)
1. Installed the oldest compatible driver (496.49). The ones proposed in a youtube video weren't compatible with my card and/or Windows.
2. Disabled / removed all overlay programs and features.
3. Deleted SteamOverlayVulkanLayer64.json file each time after launching steam.
4. Run the game as an admin.
After that I got only one vk_error crash in nearly 20 hours of gameplay. Before the fix the game was totally unplayable crashing every 5-20 mins and I was considering a refund.
Hope this will help someone.
getting hard crash
keeps resetting pc 4090 rtx ?
how do i get into manage 3d settings?
right click on your computer desktop screen
open the nvidia control panel
open manage 3d settings and scroll down until you see Vulkan/openGL present method. If you switch that setting to prefer native, then that should get rid of the vk_error_device_lost, error message.
Thank you!
