FIX: LAUNCH PROBLEM ! *READ THIS*
Hi so I've no been able to launch this game and found the solution in another topic and thought
let's make one mysefl.

* First off go to left corner where it say ''Steam'' and head into settings, then the ''in game'' tab
and make sure non of the overlay options are ticked, disable everything.

* now go to your desktop and find the steam icon, right click it and go to ''folder location''
in here search for '' SteamOverlayVulkanLayer64.json '' and delete it!
(you need to do this every time you launch Steam.

You now can play i'm sure of it!
let me know if it worked for you, and if you got another solution, post it for others!!

Is DBH the only game you've got that uses Vulkan? I've got Red Dead Redemption 2 and that is set by default to run Vulkan, which I do and it runs just fine. DBH has been just fine for me too and the only difference I can think of compared to the others that have had the issue is that I have RDR2. Go figure.....

This has nothing to do with vulkan! the game is a port and for some reason can not work in conjuction with overlays, even not the ones in Vulkan itself it seems. That's why this sollution will work for everyone I think. I met all the criteria Quantic Dream said , like OBS and other overlay software that I didn't had installed or active, so I'm convinced that this as a last attempt will surely make people happy to play the game!

I have played Red dead redemption 2, (it was a terrible game! story wise) and when I ordered in pre-launch the day it released on pc it did not work for me, I wanted to be quick and make a review, but it didn't happend so I refunded it via paypall and tried it again months later after the fix

Vulkan games always work, I don't know of any game that didn't run on my computers, i've been playing for a long time lol, it's because the port of the last two games I mentioned , have limitations in what one can used in conjunction with the game, in DBH overlays that do not work and in case of RDR2 I have no clue what the problem was but AMD cpu's seemed to be affected.

So yeah, there you go ;-)
(are you a console guy on computer by the way?)

Nope, but I'm 100% sure you have some kind of overlay software active, try Nvidia experience and disable the overlay and screen recording. In you anti virus, let this game do it's thing don't block it and the updates ofcourse, Disable rivatuner in Msi Afterburner, more i couldn't help you with...

You could always refund it and wait for a patch

Guys just uninstall programs that capture the screen, such as FpsMonitor, Fraps and more. I uninstalled Fpsmonitor and the game started without problems!

No, I'm not a console guy on a computer, I haven't had a console since PS2. I suppose the current games I like were previously only available on consoles though.

The overlay is set to on for me and DBH runs fine, I'm just intrigued as to why, if that has caused issues, it hasn't been the case for me. I don't have any monitoring software installed, no FPS monitor or Geforce Experience or anything else I've heard mentioned. I can't just be lucky.

Thanks for the hints. I will look into it. :)
I hope there will be a patch for it soon.

Quantic did actually release a patch not long before the game was announced as coming to Steam, so it's possible that they may do another one.

Interestingly, as I opened up Steam to look at my settings, an update for Heavy Rain downloaded and installed, so they must be working on things for the games now they're on Steam.

Well, Im tech savy enough to run a tight ship on my pc, but these kinds of things always takes time to sort out, probably the reason why CDprojectRed takes 6 months longer to release Cyberpunk 2077...
So I'm in the same situation as you , no reshade, no overlay programs and everything up-to-date, you tell me why I can't play the game without the solution I just posted and you can,.

But it's all sorted out now, I can play and might even pick up the oterh Quantic dreams games!

One of the suggestions was to uninstall the Windows Gamebar (that was what they called it, it might be called Xbox Game Bar, it's under Apps in Windows 10.), I uninstalled that before I'd even installed any games. There were other 3rd party FPS counters and other things mentioned that I wasn't using and I never use Geforce Experience.

Whatever, you got it working in the end. Yes, I'd recommend the other 2 games, I've seen playthroughs and they are great.

I could fix the problem trough the renaming the file "SteamOverlayVulkanLayer64.json"

that won't matter, since everytime steam starts all files are restored and you'll end up with a bunch of renames that do nothing.
