Note1: I would like to remind you that there is a risk and the responsibility is yours. You can break your game, your save files or you may encounter problems like that. Only apply, If you don't mind encountering these issues.

Note2: If you didn't pass the first 1-2 hours of the game or "A New Home" chapter, It may give you spoiler by not hiding something that should be hidden. So be careful if you are playing for the first time.

Note3: It also disables anti-aliasing (TAA).

Are you using the Epic, Steam or PS4 version?

Steam

I dont blame you for asking since plenty of epic users flock here since epg doesnt have forums.

I figured it out. Go to game files and edit "GraphicOptions.JSON". Change "DEPTH_OF_FIELD" to 0. Also change "FRAME_RATE_LIMIT" to 4 for unlimited frame rate.

Thanks bro I'll try it. The amount of dof in this game is insane lol

Nope, DOF is still ON, just changed to "Low". The game looks pathetic, to say the least.

Really terrible this depth of field and just sad that devs these days still don't manage to put a simple off option in the menu but force ugly blur on people who just want to enjoy a game with crisp and beautiful graphics..

Hey thanks really. That was my first time with json file type didn't even realize it was basically a ini file. I take it that is their own custom file name? JSON = Jason from Heavy Rain I presume?

I'm going to fiddle around a bit with this but as someone else mentioned the DoF maybe pre-baked into the game. :Goku:

JSON stands for "JavaScript Object Notation" file. It's a file type/extension that was around way before Heavy Rain, although not used that often I've seen it in a few games files, but most opt for .cfg, .ini or even just .txt config files

There's no mouse icon next to your name, therefore you don't own the game on Steam.

Good eye, I was trying the demo. I already beat the game on ps4. I wont be buying the game anytime soon on steam now since they still decide having 3/4 of the screen blurry is an artistic choice.

How is playing on a console with much lower graphical fidelity and performance fine, but playing DOF is a deal breaker? lol.

Have you tried the game? Do you like not being able to see most of the screen? Did I say the ps4 version was fine? Dont put words in my mouth. Lol

I'm hoping for an option to bypass this effect as well. Background objects have such an intense blur it's making the game uncomfortable to play. Surprisingly this whole blur effect is gone the instant you go in inspect mode.

Exactly, this is what makes me real mad. Like for a second between transition you can actually see pretty clear image, so what's the fkn problem, just remove dof. The game doesn't look that bad, you don't have to blur everything ffs. It feels like you're blind and need glasses or some sh*t.
