Licenced?
Hi i saw this game last year but apparently there was issues? (i cant remember exacty but isnt it the case that this game is open source and the original developer said it cant be commercialised?). Hopefully publisher can clear this up (as no point playing if it will be pulled off steam again). Cheers.

The game you are referring to was Astonia Reborn and both that game and this game (The Return of Yendor) are private servers based off an originally created Astonia 3. Anyone is welcome to download the original server and client files to create a server, but managing a server and the players that come to enjoy the game can be challenging for some (Astonia Reborn for example). This game won't be pulled due to licensing issues, but I can say that this server has been running for over a year and the owner/developer is still excited to create content. Should be up for quite some time!

First, Astonia Reborn is still on steam and luanchable just no server to connect to, the owner just shut it down(if it was removed from steam it wouldn't have a steam store page).

Astonia, The Return of Yendor is a new owner/dev team. Astonia Reborn was pulled down due to the owner/lead just not fixing issues, could take 1-2 days (like core things like map areas crashing or important grinding areas) and "health issues' ' is another reason for the shut down.

Like Jem said this server has been up for a really long time, and has added its own twists to the game which make it interesting, more enjoyable and easier for new or returning players to get into the game. Also the fact he doesn't take donations or any kind of payments from the players is a nice thing. I've really enjoyed the team that helps him keep things smooth and running, so far I have not had any type of ingame problems.

So check it out! its really a fun server!

From what I understood, the reason Reborn was shut down was because it was heavily monetized and Astonia Reborn server's owner sold Astonia 3's assets to third parties? I know there is some clause that if open source material is monetized and makes over a certain amount, part of those earnings HAVE to be given to the content's original creator? If I'm misunderstanding something let me know?

If you go to astonias main site, there is information on there. They have all versions listed on that site, that contacted the person/company they had it up and running and would like it listed. the Game host can monetize all they want, but if they make over a certain amount they have to give a % or a cut to the orginal owner of the game..

As I am typing this I dont see the link anymore on the astonia.com site there was info about making over a certain amount per month.

They even say yender is on steam! on 2 pages XD
