How to use 'spin attack' ?! Which button??

I got spin attack in the begining of the game. But never knew how to use it? I play on PC/steam with a PS4 controller. In the controls it just says 'square' button. But that is just a normal attack? Now I need to use spin attack to gain altitude. But how?

Hold the attack button to charge it up. Once you here the sound and your character is surrounded by lights press it again.
