Strange glyphs

Once you start fighting the 3 knight bosses defeating them produces a message in some strange runes, the same ones you see written on signs and such all over the map. It's the same thing when you fight the queen, before and after fighting her there is a message in more glyphs. Is it a secret? are you supposed to be able to translate them somehow? Anyone know what's up with them?

Bumping your question, I'm also curious and have no idea! There are more of these after you defeat the final (non-DLC) boss as well.

It's a simple substitution cipher.

• When you defeat a Shadow Lord (all three say the same thing):
  THANK YOU / THE CURSE HAS BEEN BROKEN
  
• When you encounter the Queen:
  CHILD OF MINE / LET ME FREE YOU / OF THE FIRE IN YOUR BLOOD
  
• When you defeat her:
  YOUR SACRIFICE HAS BEEN IN VAIN / WHEN THE TIME COMES / I WILL RETURN
  
• The signs all say
  DIRECTIONS / FIK (which is hilarious to me if FIK means "♥♥♥♥ if I know"

The rest of the text I've seen around the world seem to use the same symbols, but translate into nonsense.

Happy to help! I apologize if I came across as a bit pretentious. I meant that the type of cipher is called 'simple substitution', not that it was simple to solve

Lol. Not at all. I have heard of it before, I was just explaining where I got stuck with it when I tried solving it myself (not a lot of experience with ciphers but i now substituting the alphabet with other symbols is the easiest design). I had spent some time in the game taking snap shots of every sign and message I could find but I was hoping for some sort of alphabet board or something that would make it incredibly easy. But ciphers are not an easy thing no matter what, so I'm aware a simple cipher is relative :D
