WTF is up with the Ferry

I dont know how to make the ferries operate, they take my $, can't get it to do anything else. Did i miss some notes, or was this added without really explaining how it functions.

what are you trying to send of with the ferry ?

you have up to two connections with the ferry. once you've connected two stations and a pawn or cargo needs to go that direction the pathfinding ai will considerer the route. but i get you point; in most cases the ai will still take the road, even if it goes through enemy territory

I have the same issue. It would be nice to have the cargo filter like other buildings.

I'd also like to know how ferries work. So def subbing to this discussion to find out.
Cause I have also connected 2 ferries and can't figure it out (the starting ferries in the Ballenas/Riomanos for the story). I was thinking maybe I needed to put a warehouse in Riomanos to move it from the ferry to the river port, but the warehouse trucks would have to drive all the way around town and back, so pretty ineffecient and better just to drive from Ballenas without the ferry maintenance costs at that point

You need to set the destination of your transportation depot, hotel or whatever to the building where you want it to go, and not on the ferry terminal itself.
So if you want it to go to a river pier, set your transport depot to deliver to the pier, and if you have a ferry connection set up that is a more economical route, it will take the ferry automatically.
I found that they work completely fine for me.

Also, to set up a route between to ferry terminals, you don't need to set a route from the second one back to the first one. You only need to set the route from one terminal and it will go both ways, so you can have more connections than it appears.
