Shop Class....
This is annoying... I've been trying to do the shop classes, but I fail every single time I start one.

The only clue you get is something with a mouse and turning in a direction, but whatever I do, it'll always fail. Any tips? Do you need to hold a button while turning?

Make small circular motions with your mouse (either clockwise or counter-clockwise according to the rotating arrow). Try not to go too fast or too slow (perhaps try to match the movement of the rotating arrow). When you see a letter key flashing (typically it may be either W, A, S or D), tap it repeatedly until you no longer see it.

When I used my keypad this pissed me off so much. If you have a trackpad just draw a circle in the direction of the one being shown, and like LoneWolfDon said, try to match the speed as best you can.

I use the xbox 360 game pad, and I was having trouble with using the joysticks. When it said to turn in a certain direction, I would go to do it, and it would fail because it regestered it turning the wrong way (must have supersensitive joystick). Anyhoo, I found that if I paused the game when the motion command came up, start the circular motion with my joystick and then unpause, no problem. Might work for your mouse as well? let me know
Just make small circular motioins with the mouse or draw small circles with a trackpad if that is what you are using.

The key to this for me was looking up the buttons to press and then doing them before the button prompts appeared on the screen. Then it worked fine. Before I did that I would fail immediately

When it's something with the mouse, do it slowly at first and go towards you while tilting a little bit to the left or the right you with the mouse to start it. I used to save my game in the school before I went in the shop class, that way I could load my game if I failed and try it again. It can save you some time.
