cant progress the game due to crashes
i cant complete the "carnival date" mission because it crashes when i enter a minigame. Can anyone help?

Try DXVK without silent patch. Silent patch is an unstable beta last updated 3 years ago.

Which dxvk exactly? D3d9? D3d10 or 11? 32x or 64x?

I'm not super knowledgeable, but is DXVK a mod that allows you to run 60fps? I've always read that running 60fps really messes with this game, the clock, timers, the ai, a lot of stuff is just made for 30fps...

I'm not seeing it mentioned here, but there is an all-in-one patch for this game that I've had a lot of luck with. "Bully Definitive Edition Project" I was using it for my (old) GTAIII, Vice City, and San Andreas when I saw that they had a pack for the PC edition of Bully. I hook up a PS4 controller using DS4Windows and it handles exactly like it did on the PS2. I don't believe I've crashed while using this one, and you can google it yourself and see that it's very reputable. I had to edit a value in an .ini file or something, but I even have HD button prompts that match my PS controller.

You won't be playing at 60fps (actually you can in the mod settings, but it warns you not to if I remember correctly), but it looks and feels really good... I took my library out of Program Files and just put them directly into my C drive so I don't get a UAC prompt when I start it up in compatibility mode, but I'm looking at my .exe now and I don't have it set to any compatibility mode or run as administrator...

Moving your Steam library is a big deal, you have to log in again, and any emulated games you have in there will probably break and lose their Steam Grid art locations as well. Only do this if you've got the "Allow X program to make changes to your computer?" screen every time you launch a game from the protected folders (Program Files, x86, Desktop, etc.) and it is killing you inside. I'm seeing that I don't have that set for Bully anymore, but I was messing with it before the DEP.

No DXVK is translation layer that basically converts DirectX api calls to Vulkan. Mostly used to get windows games running on linux, does help fix some issues on windows also though.
