How to avoid enemy tackle/running atack

Jocks or townies throwing running punches at you and knocking you down is so annoying, when you see them running at you if you don't running circles like a idiot you getting knocked down. How do i avoid this, is there some move or action against is?

Just pull out your skateboard and get the hell out of there!
Or you can teleport to the school by using the bus stops in various parts of bullworth.
Or you can steal sb else's bike and pedal!

I'm interested in not fleeing away, but how to start fight without getting knocked out every time you decideto shorten the distance.

Locking onto them makes you block, so timing it right works.

It won't stop grapple/tackles though, just shoulder tackles.

Timing is too unreliable so it better to learn to like that pain. It's may be kinda cool - Jimmy is not a superhero so he still can be knocked down.

If you move your looking control e.g. for 360 and PS2 right analog stick, you'll switch targets without having to lock off and lock on again.

use the running charge attack or whatever its called.
when you run and press the attack button you will do headbutt type charge
that will knock them over instead, probably the best counter to them other then
running away.
you can also do this when on your skateboard for a surprise attack.
