BioGun

Past failed kickstarter game.
The lead of this studio was involved in a Metroidvania Kickstarter Game named ReVen that funded $33k of its $18k goal back in 2014.
The game never released and no money was refunded.
That company was called Varia Games, and you can read this on their Patreon page that is still active for some reason:

" Varia Games is John Rogeles and Austin Morgan.

We've been creating ReVeN for a long while now. Making games has been our dream since we were kids. "

Although John didn't create the kickstarter he became lead artist. He is the one who started Dapper Dog Digital. He then advertised this game on the failed kickstarter page and let us know the main creator is probably never coming back.

I believe this information needs to be known, even though I may be biased.

Hi there, I would like to respond to this.

Yes, I was previously part of a team (Varia Games LLC) as the lead artist. Unfortunately the lead programmer became overwhelmed with the projects development and disappeared for a few years leaving me in the dark. After trying to re-establish a connection with him over a period of two years to no avail I ended up leaving as the concept/execution for the game, ReVeN was not mine. After leaving, it weighed on me heavily that everyone that funded ReVeN didn't get a game. I took on teaching myself how to program to make what you see now as BioGun with the help of a newly found team. I have reached back out to the Kickstarter back in October to let the original KS know that I planned on giving them BioGun as an apology for not getting ReVeN in a KS update. Sorry for double post, but can you post what sources you used to learn to code? Thats impressive as hell

There isn't really one source. I am very much self taught. Just lots of tutorials on youtube and making friends online that know how and asking them how they do things. But I would start by choosing the engine you want to work in then go from there. :)

The fact you're planning on gifting the game to people who funded another game you were not the creator of makes me deeply hope Biogun is successful ! It's very much deserved.

I really appreciate your vote of confidence! I really do hope the backers enjoy the game once its released. It may not be ReVeN but I can promise that we are doing the best we can to deliver something unique and very special. :)

old post.....but my god, man..... how can you AVOID coming across dozens and dozens of high-quality "teach yourself coding" websites/courses/videos/games these days. There are HUNDREDS of tip-top-quality resources for learning to program in any language, for any reason, and via any type of media you can imagine.

I'll name a few off of the top of my head (and just at a single glance of my old bookmarks):

Youtube (can ignore everything below with just this and have a lifetime's worth of lectures/courses/tutorials - including actual ivy league uni courses)

Codeacademy
FreeCodeCamp
SoloLearn
Coursera
edX
CS50
Replit
Hyperskill
Structy
LeetCode
Bento
codepen
exercism
codecombat
KhanAcademy
Brilliant
VisuALGO
checkio
Stepik
BootDev
CodeAnywhere
Wibit
Coderbyte
AlgoExpert

that's all I see in my tech/coding bookmarks without having to actually scroll down at all, lol

The entire team has definitely been putting their all into making the game a reality, and I hope that the age-old saying of "prove it by actions" will do all the talking needed.

Right now, you can see all of the progress in the recently launched prologue, BioGun Clinical Trail!

Just came upon this after playing biogun recently. I was part of that original kickstarter. He did offer refunds and I did receive one. Just an fyi

How did you get a refund? No one else on the kickstarter page has said they have, the maker even said the money is gone.
