But...Why?!
Why is this a thing? Who decided to make a game that is virtually identical to a long running, hugely successful franchise, but make it markedly crappier? There isn't a single ounce of creativity in this game. It's almost a copy-paste of Pokemon.

I'm not trying to troll when I say this, but as a child I was a HUGE Lufia fan and when Pokemon came out, I was really pissed because it felt like a blatant capsule monster ripoff to me. Took me ages to accept that you can take ideas from other games and put your own spin on it.
I've never actually heard of Lufia.. what system was it? I have a very, VERY vague memory of several old games of the monster catcher/trainer but I cannot for the life of me find them or anything.

Remember Monster Rancher? Good times... Didn't a port just release on Steam?

I'm very excited for Monster Rancher. It drops next week
Can't say I don't mind another pokemon clone, given gamefreak is worthless and only proven time and time again the only thing they ever did correctly was sink deep seeds into nostalgia (like every Nintendo franchise imo) but what I don't like and why I won't be recommending the game to anyone I know, is that they still keep the tedious and terrible parts of the battle system, namely the more egregious RNG. Things like mutli hit moves and critical chance is super fine, but why leave things like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sand attack the same. why it doesnt just make the next attack miss and thats it. Why do players have to roll dice that only feel terrible to roll with a terrible completely unreliable strategy. Why can I STILL not see the percentage chance for catching something. Why is it always sure hope I get ok rng or my creature dies and leaves my party. (or the other option walking away from a perfect because Can't risk it.) are those fun decisions for anyone? have those people had any kind of evaluation? and yet its in every single terrible clone of a terrible base game. Creature collecters all die except for pokemon because the base formula is terrible and the only reason people like pokemon is they were introduced to it as a kid. Just look into pokemon mods, its the same thing but with the creatures you remember, these knock offs never stick around.

You should check out TemTem then, they don’t have accuracy in that game. You can “dodge” with certain skills and effects, but there is no crit or accuracy. So no RNG when it comes to combat.

So how many of those Pokemon games are on PC? (without using emulators etc)

I understand you. I played demo for 4 hours and I couldn't stop myself from compare this game with other pokemon/pokemon-like games. As a result, pokemon red/blue(1996) better than Coromon in nearly every way(exept buggs).

i like that the moves that the mons learn stay in a list and you can turn them off and on at will, creating the moveset you desire.

also, you can change the trait of your mon at donar island. . but it's random and unreliable.
i was trying to make a full team of armaldos with hoarder trait and it just got too annoying having it randomly switch between vaccine and thick skin.

the gameplay itself does feel like a copy paste of pokemon and if they don't give you a way to make it go faster, this is gonna get old fast.
i put 14 hours in and that was mostly just grinding. granted, i would have moved forward in the story by now, if it wasn't a demo that ends at this point. i was just listening to podcasts , trying to get my team all to level 25, looking for more "perfect" potent mons. i have 1 perfect and a p20 which is just 1 point below perfect

as for the difficulty, the higher difficulty options just look like "enforced" nuzlocke rules, i dunno. i have tried nuzlocke on black, diamond, and platinum in the past and never bothered to finish the game. there was this one drifloon in platinum i think it was, that i was playing the nuzlocke perfectly and it had a surprise trait where it automatically killed my mon at the same time i killed it and i was like "eff this" and i rage quitted
better than temtem

Why make a franchise that's available on PC and has made big improvements and it's OWN story compared to Pokemon? Because it makes sense. I know it's hard to hear, but no one needs your permission to enjoy making or playing games like this.

Im surprised it took this long for anyone to do this. Others have come close but not quite close enough to be copying pokemon all that much. I for one am glad somone finally did it. It keeps all the best features of old pokemon and new, cuts out the bad stuff I dont like and adds it own stuff here and there. I wish it was a bit grittier and with more drama but still, its good.

better than temtem
What’s wrong with TemTem? I’ve been having a lot of fun with it. Social interaction with other players. Much better breeding system than Pokémon games. No HM wh*res. No ridiculous RNG in battles. Better story than all Pokémon games.

It’s hard to compare other games to coromon in its entirety, since all we have is just one small section of the game. We can’t say if breeding will be anymore interesting than Pokémon, or if the story will be any good.
Temtem was fine the community is the one who make the game dead, i remember when they first take a lot of players once but the arrogant of the dev hiding behind their "Toxic and denial" player who can't afford handheld console to buy pokemon games. like When someone asks offline gameplay, all of the community just slapping the new potential player with a lot of toxic comments and of course "Better than pokemon" i would say yeah i play it once if not because of humble bundle i will never know about the game and buy it.

The first impression server was sucked then got into play, not really fans with the story welp I can say it's better than the new Arceus pokemon game where its suck like typical weebs "Isekai story" tbh I like the battle in temtem which is unique. But after being in the game for a while seeing suggestions that should be better the dev itself answered that suggestion but what happen? the community just like say "stop playing the game, at least we have a pokemon game on pc" in the forum i guess it's the right thing to refund the game.

i remember last year someone say "there's like 1000 player average in temtem, for an early access game better than any other game" well now it has 700 player average. funny enought the temtem player base is decreases so much than a project zomboid which still early acces almost 10 years still have a solid 10.000 average playerbase thanks to their "can be played Offline and online game". and i dont even like that game. (Ended up refund the game back in 2018 because it's still in developtment)

damm man I wont debate with you after this i know how temtem community. i dont have time for that, if you want to ask me about Coromon yeah this game has no originality not just temtem both game based on "Catch and monster battle" technically pokemon. my first impression story was kind of cliche they could done better (hope its because demo not the final release), seem like rushed, not a fan of "emoticon" bubble they should using traditional symbol, battle was slow, but atleast the leveling system was intresthing but seem too much grind and take long time thanks to slow gameplay plus a screen tearing issue and the game crashesh for me.

tried this game because why not, i like steam fest i download every game that looks intresthing too bad too much platformer. atleast this game would be in my wishlist and i'll keep looking the game update.

@Rens Agatha No I get it. If your first impression was ruined because of people being toxic, sure. I get it. But to be completely honest, if that was enough of a reason to avoid a game, League of Legends wouldn’t exist.

Maybe it was just a bad crew that you played with too. I’ve seen people talk about suggestions, they either discuss it, or they just say to go to the forums because it’s a better chance for it to be seen by the devs.

And from what I have seen, it’s not the player base that’s making the players drop, it’s the lack of end game content. Something MANY games struggle with. Coromon may end up the same, we will have to see.

Anyways, I think the chat on TemTem has cleaned up quite a bit from what you’re saying. And both games are great in their own way. I’m excited to get the full game of Coromon, but I’m also excited to play TemTem and perfect my team, while being able to chat with people to keep my sanity lol. Something I did a lot when I played World of Warcraft and spent hours fishing.

I don't really care if it's a Pokemon clone or not; it's exactly the kind of monster collector that I've been looking for, and I'll likely buy it on release.

I mean, I have Monster Sanctuary, but it just isn't the same as Coromon. Not that MS is bad, it's just its own thing. :stimulation:

I agree. I love Monster Collector/Tamer/Trainer games. Monster Sanctuary is quite interesting but diverges quite a bit from a standard look of what I'm looking at. Nexomon slightly scratches the itch as well, but not the way that this did.
Korinth 24/fev./2022 às 12:31
I've started this game and just... the scenario is so much better than Pokémon lol and just the NPCs, the houses and labs, gosh, the labs.... they worked well on the world buildingl
It feels like an actually intelligent game for mature people and not one which thinks you're stupid because you're a kid.
They also put a nuzlocke and definitive death modes...

And unlike games like Nexomon you will not deal with an android game with a mobile interface.
Temtem is fine but it's an online game only which instantly make him a not that great monster game.

I like that they did a pc port for Digimon Cybersleuth (you should try it if you like monsters games, Cybersleuth is kinda Persona-ish). Man, when will they release Digimon Survive anyway ?!
