Thoughts on the update so far?
I've been playing it, and it's... okay so far.

For some reason online matches are glitched atm so I can't select teams from my sets, as it always defaults to my main team.

The new battle facilities are nice, but they kind of suffer from the same issue as battle tower, but now only 4 fold since you pretty much have to do the streaks 4 times in each.

Maybe if you got the gems for each battle it'll be worth it, but atm none of the rewards seem all that interesting. Even the hidden rewards are probably either being able to max out a coromon's level or turn them perfect. But the issue is that it'd probably take less time to do those manually then doing 12 sets of 60 battles.

Also the skin prices are a bit... crazy XD. You get like 4-6 gems for each battle you WIN. Even after like a 2 hour session, I only got like 49 gems, and that is with me WINNING most of my battles.

Overall, the update is fun, but the reward to effort ratio is kind of wonky.

I feel a lot more effort was probably put into the main game changes, which is fine. Hopefully the update will be enough to sustain the playerbase for awhile.

I don't much like that the pause control is visible onscreen in maps. I assume it's a touch button for mobile but I don't need it on PC. I would like the option to turn it off, and to get rid of the clock too. Just cluttering the interface. Otherwise I don't mind the skin shop but it does feel a bit unneeded.

I did not play this new update yet but i can already imagine the amount of grinding we need to do for those new skins. I saw some skins costing around 400. If what you told here is true, imagine getting all the skins for each Coromon. They just did it that way to force the player to play their game thousands of hours -.- Grinding has been a thing for years and is a bad thing. Just for increase the game longevity in a st*pid way. Anyway, this update came to late. The Coromon hype died long ago and even more after beating the game 100% and leaving a bitter taste on my mouth (that ending....). Maybe, maybe i will replay it some time but i doubt it.

One thing i noticed is that on the mobile version the fruit drone, storage, xp sharing and the +return lux are all tied to the microtransaction store which i find to be quite disgusting. Anyone know if they can be unlocked eventually via playing or the only way to get it is to dish out more money?

I can understand that. The hype is long gone, and it's just WAY too much for a single skin. You'd legit would have to win 220 matches in Ranked.

I was kinda interested in starting a new file to try the revamped story, new monsters and modes, but then I realized there is no newgame+ option that keeps all the monsters I've collected so far. As for the skins, they might be interesting if, again, I could use them in a new story, but it looks like I'd have to grind over multiple days on my main file just to unlock them and use them on a new save.

The only thing that bothers me are the high prices for the cosmetics.

This aint a MMO and once i am finished with my run i wont really keep logging in to get Skins for me or my team when i dont have anything to do i could use them for anymore. I dont do PvP in this type of games only the Story and PvE.

So if i am lucky i maybe get 1 Skin while playing. But for sure not a 600 Gems one.

Also not sure why we're still limited to three save slots. I promise my PC has room on its hard drive for more.

I guess that has nothing to do with your hard drive but Steam Cloud. Other games like Grim Dawn have a character Limit for that reason.

I'm also waiting for a NG+ mode to just do a let's play with friends, doing a new adventure with the new update. But as for now, I've nearly collected all perfects mons on my first playthrough and losing all of that to start a new adventure feels too lame to me :(. But I'm hyped for updates !

The story revamp is great and was very needed, I enjoyed re-playing through the game to see what was different.

New coromons are fun to use and bring new interesting ways to play (not sure how they will impact pvp)

Skin grind is pretty bad right now, but devs said on the discord that they're going to re-balance things so its not as long

As a PVE player i'm more than satisfied with the update, considering they could've just dropped the game at any point with no updates

A warning for users would have been nice, like a "hey, next week we'll be dropping a major update that will be changing the story/a lot of the game". I would have pushed through to finish the game before if I knew this was coming, since I'm literally at the end boss and now the story is different so I feel like I have to restart. It also bugged me out when I got on. Instead of being in the submerged tunnels, I was on my water board in an ice cave, on the ground, so I had to use a teleporter to get out without the game crashing on me.

If I had been new to the game or already finished a while ago, I'm sure I would have loved the opportunity to jump into the new content, and I'm sure the new mechanics and story are great, but right now I'm a little bitter. I'm sure I'll warm up to it in time.

The story overhaul was announced on their social media a while ago (plus the release date of the update)

Can't blame you if you dont follow them but they did kind of warn people it would happen lol

Yeah, I'm not following their social media. It seemed to be a finished game (aside from minor QoL updates) and I figured any important information would be posted to steam, where everyone who owns the game would be able to see it. Good to know it was out there though, thank you!

I was kinda hoping, that the game's variable framerates causing stutters had finally been addressed. Unless i'm missing some new "Fixed FPS"-option, the framerate is still fluctuating, depending on how much is moving on-screen (more movement = higher FPS) and that introduces some nasty stuttering, especially when starting/stopping to move or running around places with little going on.

It might be a default power-saving setting of the engine-used, which seems optimized around mobile devices. If that's the case, an option to toggle this behavior would be nice.
