Coromon or Cassette beasts
Hi all,

I am fairly new in the monster taming genre. I loved Digimon World when I was a kid and I recently played Monster sanctuary. Monster sanctuary was great.

Can you give me your opinion which game should I get first? This or Cassette beasts? I would just say that story is not that important for me. The battle system and how you can develop your monsters is more important.

Thx

Both are very different so it really depends on what you're looking for
Cassette beasts focus on double battles and has an open world where you can do things at your own pace while Coromon plays more similarly to pokemon games and has a linear story progression. I loved both games so really feel free to try out both

Coromon has held items you can give your coromons and has devolution, devolving a coromon allows a coromon to get a better ability in exchange of their lower stat

Cassette beasts does not have abilities or held items but each monster can have multiple moves and some of them have passive effects. You can also fuse your monsters to become more powerful once your fuse meter is filled up
I have played both games, I recommend Cassette Beasts for the story, music and the new mechanics it incorporates, for me it was a 10/10.

If you want something more oriented to how monsters can develop, coromon offers you a diverse setup involving the evolutions of your coromon, their passive abilities and the items they are holding (or fruits they consume). I would say that at the combat level it could be more diversified. (editted, lol!)

What about that Nexomon games?

I'm not sure about that one, I haven't played it :c
Neither! Don't waste your time. Story aside for both, there's not much there, especially for coromon. Anything that IS there is to distract you for just long enough to get halfway through the game and wonder....why even finish it? My guys are all fully evolved, none of these games ever have enough monsters so you quickly start seeing repeats, and overall nothing is good enough to excuse all the absolute dog water that's present throughout each game. Coromon is horrendously boring and easy, with not that many monsters, the only thing you can say is the pixel art is great, which is negligible in the face of its mindless repetition and lame bosses. Totally forgettable game IMO, any changes they'll be adding in this new update will be way too little way too late.

Cassette beasts is also extremely boring and tedious, with the final boss literally feeling like a spit in the face of the player with how easy it was, and not to mention you don't even need to fight all of this games equivalent to "Gym Leaders", they're just kinda there....in the small "open world" which is also super lame. Don't even get me started on the fusion system, its the biggest let-down ever, calling it a gimmick doesn't express how stupid and ugly it is.
i was in here to find out if this was a bonafide pokemonlike or just a mobile game port

I remember getting super excited for micromon and nexomon and those had shallow gameplay and microtransactions, but in all fairness, they did have complete storymodes, with no paywall, the MTX were gacha pulls, but everything you could pull could be caught naturally.

however, they still didn't feel like "true" pokemonlikes, since they had the mobile game vibe to them and i'm looking at this game and it looks very similar. i was actually confused at first and thought i played it before, but then i'm confusing it with nexomon and micromon and see how this can get confusing?
imo coromon is the better game, also with a more interesting story but admittedly i didn't play too much of cassette beasts to compare with.
first comment said it well, depending on your preferences you might like one or the other. personally i prefer coromon, cassette beasts feels a bit too much like a parody to me instead of a real game if that makes any sense

this game is a real pokemonlike, i played those games and know what you mean and this game is nothing like them. the only mobile game this one is vaguely similar to is EvoCreo, and even then i'm pretty sure that game is just a more basic clone of this one XD, i dunno i only discovered coromon a while after that one. there are no mobile game features like gacha lootboxes or etc, and you can even 'cheat' using the custom difficulty setting to make it possible to capture opposing trainer's mons, randomise everything, etc. it's pretty great and the replayability is nice
Having played both, I'd say Coromon. Play Cassete Beasts after.

I bought both at the end. Sadly did not enjoy neither of them. The bar was too high after Monster Sanctuary. I wanted a game wit deep combat/mechanics but both games are quite shallow. I found the combat and rpg elements too basic. To compare MS to Koromon or Cassette Beasts is like comparing Tarkov to Call of Duty.
"comparing tarkov to call of duty" honestly, i don't understand that analogy as i have played neither game, lol.
i presume you meant "escape from tarkov". which i never even heard of.

comsidering the tarkov game isn't even available on steam. . and it's a massive multiplayer game.

i can't tell which one you're saying is "better".
everyone seems to hate on CoD as evidence by the popular insult "go back to CoD", so i'm gonna assume you meant tarkov is better.

it's just that one needs to be really familiar with the genre to "get" the reference

like if i said "that's comparing dragon quest to secret of the stars"
Between Cassette Beasts, Coromon, Nexomon, and Monster Sanctuary, I think it goes without saying for me that Coromon is the most similar to Pokemon overall. That's not to say its the "best" but that of all of them I felt the most like I was playing something that was made by Pokemon fans and not just fans of monster catching rpgs in general. It's like they wanted to make the pokemon game they always wanted to play with the features gamefreak still refuses to add to their games. Obviously they all have pokemon features, but Cassette Beasts has a lot of story/open world exploration/in battle mechanics that are very much its own thing and give the game a unique feel. Nexomon looks like a cool pokemon clone but its shallow as heck and the variety of monsters is almost meaningless because I often didn't find it that big a difference between what monsters I used. And of course Monster Sanctuary has the highest difficulty and unique mechanics of all of these games and is heavy on the metroidvania aspect. But between this game and Cassette beasts, I really have to say I enjoyed both quite a bit and I'd say it comes down to preference because both are excellent. Look at a couple youtube video reviews perhaps because either way you're getting a good game.

Escape from Tarkov is a super-hardcore FPS. Call of Duty on the other hand is very casual.

Nexomon slander. Nexomon is the closest to pokemon yet it has stamina instead of pp. and combat is kind of shallow but the story is better than anything Pokemon has done especially its sequal nexomon 2. 10/10 story 7/10 combat plus the cartoonish style looks better than the pixel art many other games of the same genre try to do

Casette Beasts is always a good time for me on the switch, but I see it on a deep sale and Coromon as well. So I got coromon (haven't played yet) I say get both when you see the deep sales. I really enjoy Monster Sancturary as well, all unique spins on the creature/pet battling genre. Monster Crown I say is a-ok for me, I haven't been able to get into it too much but I think I'm impatient and want the fusion element of the game to start sooner. I THINK I got it for a buck fifty either way. There's a game maker coming out, Montamer Maker that lets us make our own mon rpgs it's on here too....
