This reaction is a big reason we don't get many monster taming games in the west.
Monster taming is just a genre, there are many games in this genre released in the asian market.
Because of the popularity of pokemon in the western market, and the fact that we are concidered as close minded when it comes to games, we don't get them.
The "It's just another pokemon" mentality is actively stopping monster taming games from being released in the west.
This isn't true at all. There is more money to be made in the west for video games than anywhere else. You have zero evidence to back up your claim.

I never claimed there is no money to be made in the west for monster taming games. I said the genre is much bigger in the asian market and the developers don't like the west always comparing it to pokemon, saying it's just a clone.
We need to somehow shake the idea every monster tamer game is a pokemon clone so the devs know there is a huge market here that is pretty starved.
Like you said, there is much money to be made here.
Pretty much like this guy is saying:

Finding this kind of thread is really funny, like if Pokemon was the inventor of the Monster Tamer type of game. They existed before Pokemon and they'll exist after pokemon. Imagine hearing that each ninja related game is a ripp-off of Naruto lmao

This always seemed strange to me. Some games get big enough to start defining a genre and inspiring other developers to make games along the same vein and typically this is received well by fans because they want more like it and we end up with stuff like Roguelikes, Soulslike/Soulsborne, Metroidvanias, etc. Yet there's cases like this with Pokemon or Minecraft that always get stigmatized and branded a ripoff.

You do realize pokemon wasn't the first creature catching game, right?

I don't really agree with this sentiment. This, much like Temtem, is very very close to Pokemon in every aspect. Even down to very specific things like IVs, EVs, and shinys. It's not like they took elements from Digimon World games or Monster Rancher. No one ever does that.

When they think of monster taming games, they intentionally go the Pokemon route because they usually are Pokemon fans and want to do Pokemon-like games because they feel Gamefreak and the Pokemon Company have missed opportunity with the series.

You accuse it of being a Pokémon clone... but then get angry that it isn't designed like the newest Pokémon game? Hypocrite much?

There is nothing wrong with the 2D medium for games. YOU dislike it. And you have every right to your opinion. But your opinion is not a fact. Yes Coromon is using the classic recipe that made monster capture games popular. They've striven to keep the aspects people liked and trying to improve upon aspects people didn't like.

It's not a clone or a rip-off. It is inspired by and an attempt to improve.

Pokemon is a clone of Dragon quest V and SMT. Your point?

If you're looking for more 3D pokemon games, you can always check out the fan games. They can be indistinguishable from the real thing. As long as you own the game then you should be fine to download the rom and patch.

I love both modern pokemon (Sun is one of my favorite games ever, I also love X and even Let's Go Eevee) and also Coromon. They don't have to be mutually exclusive.
i was about to like your comment until i realized that you like sun more than x/y

3D sucks royally. Thats why so many game companies are going back to 2D games.

I'd say it depends on the type of game really. Some actually thrive in 3d (Such as fps games). Any game with random encounters though, is much better in 2d or 2.5d. In my opinion at least. Pokemon Arceus is a full 3d game and the style take some getting used to. I prefer the 2d versions WAY more. They just feel more natural and easier to play. More streamlined. Besides, the modern 2d isnt like the 2d of old. It doesnt have to look pixelated anymore. Thats just a style choice by the developers at this point.

A rip-off would imply that this game is like a bootleg.
This game does more than the old pokemon games and actually breathes some life into the genre that's been lost in the Pokemon franchise.

Also the sprite art is a million times better than 3D models.

I don't really like the word "rip off" to describe this either. Originating from the word meaning to cheat or plagiarise someone. Some think Coromon and most other pokemon games are rip offs of pokemon. "Heavily inspired" or "derived from" does not mean plagiarised though. Derived does not mean plagiarised. And Pokemon didn't invent the genre or the mechanics.

Inversely, some people here believe the monster taming genre means "plays exactly like pokemon". And that statement reads "tell me you've only ever played pokemon inspired monster taming games without telling me you've only ever played pokemon inspired monster taming games". Like Digimon games are wildly different from Pokemon ones. Even Digimon World 3, the closest thing to Pokemon is still wildly different. I'm not even going into games like Monster Rancher, Slime Rancher, and Viva Pinata. Which are also a part of the genre.
