and whats the point? probably for people over 30 yo pokemon blue, red, green, yellow are far better than the 3d versions. The real ones.
i do not say it is bad but just uninspired
However, like previously mentioned, it also fixes a LOT of pokemon problems. IV/EV isn't nearly as tedious and annoying, and is also a lot easier to understand.
It also includes a lot of features that cater to the pokemon community, nuzlock options for example.
No, it doesn't do a lot to really change the pokemon formula, but it does streamline it while also adding in some pretty significant options. Will it replace pokemon? Absolutely not, but it's still a good clone.
Coromon doesn't seem to have particularly animated monster sprites though. As in, they don't lunge, swipe, flinch, etc. depending on what's happening to them or what they're doing. Thus, the only animation really needed is animating their idle animation (since animating attacks is separate from the monsters themselves), which is a lot less work than trying to animate a variety of different motions for each monster.
To be clear: There's nothing particularly wrong with this when trying to make a game inspired by Pokemon. Really old Pokemon games had literally no animation on the monsters themselves, and even now in 3D, the animations they have on each of the monsters are fairly simplistic and generic. It's just that the argument about how much work goes into sprite animation isn't really a particularly good argument when there isn't a lot of animations for said sprites.
in these cases, the work comes from the huge number of sprites that have to be made due to the huge number of monsters, but by the same token, in 3D you have to model all of the monsters as well.
Temtem was 3D and definitely not my cup of tea. I personally think Coromon looks better.
Monster taming is just a genre, there are many games in this genre released in the asian market.
Because of the popularity of pokemon in the western market, and the fact that we are concidered as close minded when it comes to games, we don't get them.
The "It's just another pokemon" mentality is actively stopping monster taming games from being released in the west.
