Are there "Shinies"? Also what are Potents and Perfects?
Forgive my ignorance. And sorry if this has already been acknowledged somewhere else and I glossed over it, but Ive been scouring the wikis and stuff and havent found anything on the exacts.
I keep hearing about these 3 things in the same conversation, but Im not sure what are the distinguishments. In my mind Potents and Perfects, in Pokemon terms, refer to IVs. So Im thinking rather than Pokemons 6 layers of perfects IVS, this game has 3. Regular, Potent, and Perfect. Or am I completely off the mark? What are Potents and Perfects exactly?
Also, Ive seen the encountering ratio for Potents and Perfects, but are there "Shinies" in the game? And is so, what is the ratio for encountering them? And would it be like Lets Go Pikachu/Eevee where you would get to see them in the Overworld before you actually face them. Or is it like Sword/Shield, where you will see them, but not know until you actually face them.

Potents and Perfects are basically Coromon's version shinies afaik. They sparkle when they appear in battle, they have different color palettes (even if the differences are slight), they also are a bit more rare ofc, and they're named different because their stats are better than normal Coromon. Potents have slightly better stats than normal Coromon and I think Perfects are significantly better, but I have yet to encounter a Perfect Coromon.

Ah okay. So there are 2 types of shines in the game then. And they also act as "better IVs" in a sense. Thats awesome. To be honest I was getting tired of Pokemons making everything complex by just adding more to the amount of stuff you have to do to achieve the perfect Pokemon. Hard enough getting a shiny, but then it has to have the right nature, right ability, right hidden ability, certain IVs, certain moves, now be able to G-Max, have a certain Dynamax level, etc. Im glad the stats are tied to the shiny in this one.
And yeah, as far as I can tell from another post, they do have a incredibly low appearance rate, but it doesnt seem as steep as the one in Pokemon.
Do you know if both the shines are different palettes? Or maybe it just gets progressively shiny? Like for Golbeak for example, and purely examples as I havent seen the shiny versions yet. What I mean by different palettes is that in its base for its Black/Gold but maybe in its Potent it would have Silver/Gold, and then Perfect is Gold/Gold. Or with being progressively shiny it would go from Black/Gold to maybe another part of the Coromon being Gold other than just the wings and talons in Potent, and then in its Perfect would be completely gold.
Im also wondering how you tell the different between Potent and Perfect. Like if that shiny animation is different, or if they show actual icons next to the name. So many questions I have lol. But this game is just exciting

Potency refers to what amounts to a separate xp bar. All your coromon will gain experience and level up like normal, but they also gain a separate kind of experience that, upon completion, allow you to manually add three points into whatever stat you like (HP, speed, attack, defence, sp. attack, or sp. defence). Potent coromon earn this separate experience faster than normal coromon, and I would assume perfect coromon earn it even faster. Based on what the devs have said in other threads, the odds to encounter a potent coromon (a coromon with a 'potential value' between either 15 or 16 and 20. 21 is a perfect potential value) are about 1/35 while the odds to encounter a perfect coromon are 1/3194.
This value is technically a hidden value, but you can read the potential value on any coromon you own once you acquire the potential reader item.

And yes, potent 'mons have a different colour palette to normal 'mons, and perfect 'mons have another palette again.
Edit: It's also possible that potent/perfect 'mons have better base stats, but I can't confirm that in any way.

I do not know. I've not even seen a picture of a perfect yet.
Edit: the guy above has answered this while I was typing this up.

A big badge shows up on their HP bars at the beginning of the fight for a few seconds. They should sparkle at the start of combat. Potents sparkle blue when they appear.
